Story line

Florian boy loves his four-legged friend, a collie named Lassie. An intelligent dog meets him on the doorstep of the school and amazes the whole district with his incredible intelligence and ingenuity.

But in any barrel of honey there is always a fly in the ointment: the neighbor, and part-time owner of the apartment where Florian's family lives, hates animals in general, and Lassie especially. So the dog becomes a stumbling block, and the boy's parents face a difficult choice: to deprive their son of a pet and best friend (even temporarily), or to lose a roof over their heads. Given that Sandra, the protagonist's mother, is in the last months of her pregnancy, and his father, Andreas, loses his job, the choice becomes obvious.

Florian's suffering will be understood only by those who experienced such a tragedy at such a young age. Even the fact that Lassie is taken away by his dad's rich friends for overexposure cannot lessen the pain of parting with the dog. The Count and his granddaughter Priscilla, of course, are good people who are not able to offend the new inhabitant of their mansion, but we are talking about the fact that Lassie's house is where her heart is.

The melancholy of a devoted dog cannot be expressed in words, because the dog loves its owners and does not understand why they gave it to someone else's family. The dog decides to run away, and it has to return home. Incredible adventures and new acquaintances await her. Well, Florian, his parents, the Count and Priscilla will have to understand how right Antoine de Saint-Exupery was when he wrote his famous phrase: "We are responsible for those we have tamed." And the point.

Cast

The young protagonist is played by Niko Marishka. This name will not say anything to fans of Hollywood blockbusters, but in his native Germany the boy has already managed to "light up" several times: he starred in the series Murder in High Society, Doctor Klein and The Team, and also took part in the full-length project "Discrediting ".

Perhaps, over time, the little actor will be able to become the second Till Schweiger in German cinema, but here, as they say, wait and see. Florian's parents are played by Sebastian Bezzel and Anna Maria Mue. Behind the shoulders of both actors are several dozen diverse films, some of which have become popular not only in their homeland, but also abroad.

Interesting Facts

Despite the fact that the main four-legged heroine of the film is a girl, the role of Lassie is played by a male dog. In all previous film adaptations of the story, mostly dogs-boys were also filmed.

The fact is that collie girls shed more often and have less stamina than their male counterparts. The filming process of the film lasted only two months, but as a visual sequence, viewers can see not only German landscapes, but also Czech expanses.

The locations featured in the film are truly impressive. You want to look at them, and even more - to visit and walk along the streets and fields along which the main characters move.

Drawing conclusions

Perhaps many viewers will think that this is not the best adaptation of the story about Lassie, but this is rather a biased attitude. History has been transferred to modern realities, and it is in this format that it becomes closer to modern children and adolescents. It is also worth understanding that this is primarily a European picture, and not a Hollywood family film, which, whatever one may say, is somewhat stereotyped.

Shrillness and touching - that was and remains the main thing in the film adaptation, and these two components are more than enough in the German version of Lassie.

The project is ideal for evening viewing with the family and will surely touch children who are dreaming or already have pets.
