How life on the 25th floor affects a person, what is the danger of household rubbish and how to survive in a city that has declared war on you - the answers to all these questions can be found in the new program of the MIR TV channel.
Its host, the fearless Sasha Makedonskaya, in an interview with Kleo.ru told how the program was filmed and what dangers lie in wait for residents of modern cities.
Sasha, how did the idea of the program come about?
- I studied the research of the World Health Organization, and I was struck by one fact: every city dweller daily risks no less than a person who is involved in extreme sports.
The state of ecology in big cities is simply deplorable, and this applies not only to air, but also to water and housing. We can say that the modern city is a terrible cesspool, worse than the Ganges!
Therefore, we decided to figure out how the city affects all of us. At the same time, we chose the format of TV comics so as not to scare anyone: we laugh, we use banter, but behind this laugh there are real facts, serious experts.
And what kind of nightmares does the big city hide?
- We tried to explore the things that the townspeople face every day - the elevator, transport, subway, home, work … One of the nightmares is life on high floors. Many people think that an apartment on the 25th floor is cool and prestigious, but not everyone thinks about the consequences of such a choice. People who live in high-rise buildings often have high blood pressure, and its fluctuations when riding in an elevator have a negative impact on health. In addition, vibrations are felt more strongly on the upper floors - low-frequency noises emitted by a large city.
What impressed you the most during the filming of the program?
- Perhaps the most unpleasant revelation for me was … a trash can. Stale fruits, leftover bread, peeling sausages - if you do not get rid of all these wastes quickly, they will begin to decompose and release carcinogens within an hour and a half. And if you consider how much time we spend in the kitchen, then the impact of waste on our body can be compared with the action of serious toxic substances.
Another dangerous thing is preservatives. They are literally everywhere! And by the way, scientists have already established that due to the large amount of preservatives in food, the bodies of our deceased contemporaries decompose more slowly than a hundred years ago. We can say that we are all slowly turning into mummies!
I know that as part of the experiment for the program, you even lay in a heap of garbage for several hours …
- Yes, it was done just in order to understand how we are poisoned by waste. Honestly, at that moment I looked like a bum, but reckless experiments are part of our program. Another time we checked whether it was possible to get poisoned by burning substances, and with the help of a professional stuntman they really set me on fire, I ran a few meters … But I will not divulge all the secrets of the program, watch the MIR TV channel to find out the whole truth about the nightmares of a big city.
By the way, did you have to debunk popular myths about the life of townspeople during the filming?
- Yes, that was also. One of the episodes of the program is devoted to the topic of overpopulation and indifference of people in the metropolis. We made a pretty scary experience, almost crossed the line - I was pretending to be a woman who wants to commit suicide and is about to jump off the bridge. We thought that no one would pay attention, but it turned out exactly the opposite!
Elderly women passing by came up, said: "Daughter, what are you doing, don't!" So I concluded that it is not so easy to be alone in Moscow.
Sasha, has this project personally influenced you? Have you found the answer for yourself how to survive in a big city?
- On the one hand, after this project I began to look differently at my life in a big city, at the dangers that surround us. But, on the other hand, so far we do not have many opportunities to change something. In addition, a person adapts to a lot, gets used to it - we have a lot of hidden resources.
The program "Nightmare of the Big City" on the air of the TV channel "MIR" (18th button) on Fridays evenings.
