The name of the buyer who paid 81,100 pounds for the creation of the designer Philip Tracy has not been disclosed, but it is known that a total of about 40 potential buyers participated in the auction. The 22-year-old princess has promised to donate the proceeds to UNICEF and the Children in Crisis Foundation.
As Lenta.ru reminds, the cream-colored bow-shaped hat, the ribbons of which resemble inverted screw horns, caused a mixed reaction from both fashion critics and ordinary observers. Princess Beatrice's accessory was compared to a pretzel, hinting at the lack of taste in the 22-year-old granddaughter of Elizabeth II.
After the start of the auction, some visitors to the page expressed sincere surprise at the fact that someone in general might like such a hat, however, there were many who offered small amounts not exceeding $ 50.
The interest in "the biggest mistake of the year in the fashion world" (so, to the dismay of Tracy, his work was dubbed by journalists) turned out to be so huge that a group dedicated to this accessory appeared on Facebook. Princess Beatrice herself said that she was very surprised by such an interest in her hat, but noted that it was the popularity of the accessory that prompted her to sell it at a charity auction.
