We are well aware of the important role oxygen plays for the human body as a whole. And now scientists insist that for those who adhere to a healthy lifestyle, you need more than a balanced diet and exercise. Experts recommend including outdoor walks in the mandatory program.

Walking in the fresh air allows a person not only to maintain his physical shape, but also increases his intellectual level. This fact was established by American scientists.

In the course of research into the work of the brain, neurosurgeons at the University of Illinois discovered its direct dependence on walking. “The intellectual level of a person increases if he takes at least three 40-minute walks a week. At the same time, the rhythm of the steps is not of fundamental importance,”said the head of the research, Professor Art Kramer.

Previously, to increase the level of intelligence, experts advised to engage in intellectual games every day for 10-20 minutes, where the time is counted down. But most importantly, according to the guru, you need to fully interact with others every day. It is the multifaceted communication at different levels (tactile, visual, linguistic) that activates all brain centers at once, keeping them in working order.

According to scientists, walks activate the activity of the entire structure of the brain, since a person has to respond to numerous external stimuli.

Moderate walking exercise improves connectivity between brain regions, counteracts aging, and improves reasoning.

To make this conclusion, psychologists studied brain scans of about 100 volunteers who were sedentary.

Those who took several walks a week during the year showed marked improvements in intellectual level compared to those who limited themselves to just a gentle warm-up.
