British scientists strongly doubt the safety of mobile phones for human health, and this is despite the data available today to support this postulate. However, scrupulous experts do not rule out that long-term exposure to mobile devices may be associated with an increased risk of developing cancer.

A new report from the independent Mobile Telecommunications and Health Research Program (MTHRP), initiated six years ago by the UK government and mobile operators, summarizes 23 studies that assessed the risks of electromagnetic radiation from cellular phones, as well as base stations and antennas of mobile operators.

Experts recognize the risk of such effects of exposure to electromagnetic radiation as spikes in blood pressure, changes in heart rate, headaches and nausea as minimal.

British doctors do not recommend using mobile phones for children under eight years old. In addition, the UK prohibits the construction of base stations of mobile operators in the immediate vicinity of schools and preschools.

According to MTHRP President Professor Lowry Challis, the main problem of all the scientific work in this area to date is the extremely small number of participants who have used mobile phones for more than ten years, especially since the development of cancerous tumors often begins ten or fifteen years after the onset of carcinogenic effects. … The link between smoking and lung cancer, for example, was confirmed only after analyzing data from studies that lasted 10 or more years.
