Royal Philips Electronics intends to sell its mobile phone division to China Electronics Corporation. The amount of the deal has not yet been disclosed, but it is known that the sale of the Philips mobile division will be completed by the end of 2006. The new company will have the right to distribute Philips-branded mobile phones for the next five years.
In general, technical details are not such an important thing, it is the loss of products under your favorite brand that is more of a concern. The Internet magazine "Cleo" conducted its own small survey, in which it found out that every tenth Muscovite would prefer to have a Philips mobile phone. These mobile phones are preferred not only for technical characteristics, but also for design.
It is not known in what direction the production of Philips mobile phones will change after it passes into the hands of the Chinese company. However, if we recall similar deals by Sony-Ericsson, as well as Benq-Siemens, then, in fact, nothing terrible happened after the transfer of one company to a division of another. On the contrary, the quality of the product improved. It will be hoped that from 2007 new and improved phones from Philips and China Electronics Corporation will be on sale.
