Boris Strugatsky died on Monday at the age of 79. Recently, the writer has had serious heart problems.

Boris and his brother Arkady are considered classics of Russian science fiction. Their works "Monday starts on Saturday", "Roadside Picnic", "Stalker", "Inhabited Island" - this is a whole era. After the death of his brother Arkady in 1991, Boris Natanovich published two novels under the pseudonym S. Vititsky.

During their joint creative activity, the Strugatskys created about 30 novellas and novels, several short stories and screenplays. The last joint work of the brothers was the play "The Jews of the City of St. Petersburg, or Grim Conversations by Candlelight."

The works of the Strugatskys have been filmed more than once. These are "Stalker", filmed by Andrey Tarkovsky based on "Roadside Picnic", "Inhabited Island" by Fyodor Bondarchuk.

The writer Tatyana Ustinova recently noticed that the Strugatskys' novels are really great. But, unfortunately, they are not very well known in the West. “A month ago I came across a book by the Strugatsky brothers“Monday starts on Saturday”- everyone forgot about it. You know, this is a book about a research institute that deals with magic. So I want to tell you, masters, magic wands, Dumbledore, whom the Strugatskys call Cristobal Hunta, were invented 40 years before J. K. Rowling. But, unfortunately, they were written in Russian and, unfortunately, Warner Brothers did not buy the rights to them, so the world knows nothing about this book, but it is really great,”the writer said.
