Long-term mobile phone calls have a negative effect on male fertility. Research by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine has shown that the number of hours a man spends on a cell phone a day can negatively affect all aspects of his sperm quality. Terrible, isn't it?
Specifically, the researchers found that men who did not use a cell phone had an average sperm count of 86 million per milliliter, with 40% normal forms. At the same time, for those men who daily use a mobile phone for four hours or more, this figure fell to 66 million per milliliter with 21% of normal forms. In other words, it was found that men who use mobile phones for more than four hours a day produce 25% less sperm than those who do not use mobile phones at all. In addition, frequent conversations on a cell phone provoke a 50% decrease in the number of correctly formed sperm.
According to the observations of scientists, the harmful effects are most likely associated with the electromagnetic waves emitted by mobile phones, or the heat generated by them. In their studies of the effect of cellular communication on the body, scientists also took into account factors such as age, weight, the presence of bad habits, the level of exposure to stressful situations, as well as the presence of a second job.
The study was conducted at a time when the question was raised in many countries why the level of fertility of their male population began to decline.
