On September 20, a historical drama about the youth of the great Mongol will be released. Directed by Sergei Bodrov Sr. "Do not despise a weak cub - it may turn out to be the son of a tiger!" - reads a Mongolian proverb. The "cub" named Temuchin went through hunger, humiliation, and slavery. He survived, achieved success and at the same time retained the ability to love … In the film of the Russian director, Genghis Khan is not only a fearless hero, but also a feeling, suffering person.

- I was greatly influenced by the works of the brilliant Russian historian Lev Gumilyov. - The director tells. - The son of Anna Akhmatova and Nikolai Gumilyov, who spent many years in the camps, dreamed of writing a book about Genghis Khan. He did not write such a book, but in all his works one way or another he talks about this amazing person. Gumilyov's works helped me and my co-author Arif Aliyev a lot in writing the script. I am primarily interested in the history of the extraordinary personality of Genghis Khan, who had a huge impact on the world and on Russia.

Filming took place in Inner Mongolia. The selection of actors is very interesting. The role of Genghis Khan was played by the famous Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano (Tabu, Zatoichi). The role of Targutai, the enemy of Genghis Khan, was played by the Altaian Amadu Mamadakov ("9th company", "Soldiers"). This is the only Russian actor involved in the film. And, perhaps, the closest to Genghis Khan in terms of cultural roots.

Mongol is a joint Russian-Kazakh-German project worth 15 million euros. This film only tells about the youth of Genghis Khan. It is supposed to remove the second part, about the period of maturity of the great ruler.

- I myself am from the Kypchak clan, which was the most warlike in our Altai. - Says Amadou Mamadakov. - There are legends about my ancestors: some old people claim that the Kypchaks fought on the side of Genghis Khan and even were in his protection. Others - that the Kypchaks supported the opponents of Genghis Khan. I think, in those difficult times, they could be on one side of the barricade, then on the other.

The beloved of Genghis Khan, Borte, was found by accident. A student of the Mongolian Faculty of Journalism Khulan Chuluun went to the Russian embassy to get her brother's visa and went to the casting …

Of course, in "Mongol" we will see spectacular battle scenes. The cameramen were Roger Stoffers ("The Pen of the Marquis de Sade", "Character") and Sergei Trofimov ("Day Watch" and "Night Watch"). It is assumed that in addition to Russian, Kazakh and Mongolian, the film will be translated into Tatar and Chinese.
