Causes of mastopathy

Doctors have not yet identified one common cause of mastopathy, but many agree that recently this disease has become significantly "younger". And here are the reasons for this:

  • Stress and nervous tension;
  • Improper nutrition;
  • Smoking, alcohol;
  • Lack of regular sex life, its early onset;
  • Hormonal disruptions;
  • Abortion;
  • Short period of breastfeeding (less than 5 months) or no breastfeeding at all;
  • First pregnancy after 30 years;
  • Only one child is born.

In modern life, each of us can be affected by certain risk factors. Therefore, by applying a minimum of efforts on a monthly basis and independently checking the breasts, we can preserve the beauty and health of the breasts.

How to do breast self-examination?

In 90% of cases, we can independently diagnose mastopathy. It is enough for this regularly conduct breast self-examinations … This should be done every month on the 6-12th day of the menstrual cycle: then the mammary glands are soft and easier to palpate.

Breast self-examination scheme:

  • Stand in front of a mirror, lower your hands and carefully examine the shape of the breast, the appearance of the skin of the nipples.
  • Now raise your hands behind your head and notice how the size, shape, and skin color of each breast has changed.
  • Take your right hand behind your head. Feel your right breast with slow circular motions, trying to identify possible thickening and swelling. Then do the same for the left breast.
  • Squeeze the base of the nipple with your thumb and forefinger: is there any discharge?
  • Now examine the chest while lying down. Start at the edges of the breast towards the nipple: palpate carefully in a circular motion with gentle pressure.
  • Muscle cavities should also be felt in a circular motion.

If you suddenly have the slightest suspicion of changes in the mammary gland, contact your mammologist immediately!

Why is mastopathy dangerous?

Mastopathy - these are benign changes in the mammary glands, so you should not be afraid right away. But against its background, the risk of developing breast cancer increases 3-5 times.

According to statistics, breast cancer is one of the most common causes of disability and death for women between 20 and 45 years old. That is why it is so important to be regularly examined by a mammologist and certainly to treat mastopathy.

The earlier you start treatment, the lower the risk of malignant tumors. An experienced mammologist will not only examine the mammary glands, but also carry out modern diagnostics of mastopathy: mammography and ultrasound. Young women are advised to undergo ultrasound, which has no contraindications, even during pregnancy. But starting from the age of 35-40, it is advisable to undergo mammography annually or with obvious signs of the disease.

Of course, only a competent specialist can prescribe an effective treatment: he will conduct an accurate diagnosis and either completely exclude the disease, or make an accurate diagnosis. But self-medication should not be done in any case!

What can be done now?

We all would like to keep our breasts beautiful and healthy, elastic and sexy … But for this you need to try to lead a healthy lifestyle, eat right and at least give up risky experiments on female breasts.

Away from the sun. The sun's rays not only age and dry the skin, but can also trigger the development of breast cancer. It is not recommended to sunbathe topless women who have a hereditary predisposition to cancer.

After 35 years it is also not necessary to sunbathe "without top". And in general, if you care about your health, do not expose your breasts to direct sun: it is better to cover it with a towel or put on a white swimsuit that reflects harmful rays. You can safely sunbathe in the morning or in the evening.

Do not overheat. Thermal procedures are contraindicated for nodules in the mammary gland. So, you can’t take a steam bath and sauna, sunbathe on the beach, do body wraps, and massage with warm stones. In any case, it is better to pre-consult with a gynecologist or mammologist.

Physical exercise. For the elasticity of the chest, it is necessary to engage in those sports in which the shoulder girdle is trained: basketball, volleyball, tennis, swimming. If you are attending a gym, have a trainer design a personalized program for you. The main thing is regularity and control over the loads!

For training, it is better to wear special underwear that supports the chest.

Breast cream. To keep the skin of the breast elastic, it is enough to apply moisturizer on it after a shower with light circular movements. But with push-up creams that increase the mass of the mammary gland, be careful: they do not give a long-term effect, and you cannot use them all the time. It is better to consult a mammologist, as these funds have a number of contraindications.

Don't try to get rid of the excess. Pimples, hairs, moles on the chest - these are not the problems that should be dealt with. The hairs, as a rule, are very thin, light and do not cause discomfort. If pimples appear on the chest, just treat them with an antiseptic, no need to press. It is also not recommended to remove moles from the chest, but if they haunt you, then contact the specialists so that they can choose the most gentle method of removal.
