Is there a method for skin rejuvenation without side effects? Of course there is. And we are not talking about rejuvenating apples, the latest cosmetic procedure or a miracle cream. As experts have found out, in order to refresh the skin and protect it from external irritants, it is enough to get enough sleep.

Specialists of the cosmetic company Estée Lauder, together with the pros from the American medical center Case Medical Center, have carefully studied the issue of the effect of healthy sleep on the condition of the skin. In a kind of experiment, 60 women took part in the age from 30 to 49 years, who were divided into two groups. The first was conventionally named "lady with poor quality of sleep", the second, respectively, "lady with good quality of sleep."

Alas, lack of sleep has become one of the main problems for people in developed countries. Moreover, women, as a rule, do not get enough sleep three times more often than men. The average amount of sleep people need to wake up and feel rested is 7-8 hours. Due to a number of genetic characteristics, the need for sleep can vary from 4 to 10 hours.

For almost a week, scientists diligently observed the condition of the skin of the participants and eventually found that the ladies from the first group had almost half the elasticity and skin tone than the girls from the second group. Further, a test for transepidermal water loss (shows how well the skin retains water) showed that lack of sleep had an extremely negative effect on the functioning of the skin. And 72 hours after the use of an external stimulus, it turned out that in people who slept poorly, recovery was worse by 30%.

As for assessing their appearance, people who slept a little, in general, looked at themselves negatively. 44% of them were obese (in the group of those who slept, the figure was 23%). Unsurprisingly, this was reflected in self-esteem.
