Any illness is an unpleasant thing. We already have enough worries, and here we still have to spend time and energy on treatment … But skin diseases give us even more problems, since the manifestations of the disease are usually visible to the people around us. Moreover, it is often so difficult without the participation of doctors to understand what kind of disease made itself felt …
Why do we need the "Alphabet of Skin Diseases"
How to distinguish one dermatosis from another? Symptoms of some diseases are similar: red rashes that quickly spread over the surface of the skin, itching, burning. How quickly we will be able to navigate depends on how timely and effective the treatment will be, what results it will give. Many skin diseases, if you do not start therapy on time, tend to become chronic. And this means that the disease will remain for life, will periodically worsen. Moreover, the unknown scares us. Imagine the horror of a young mother who notices some strange formations, rashes, etc. on the skin of her beloved baby. So let's try to deal with the most common dermatoses.
A: atopic dermatitis
What does it mean? Atopic means special, different from others.
What is the nature of the disease?
Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease of an allergic nature. It is a non-infectious (non-infectious) condition with a hereditary predisposition. The disease begins at an early age, and in children it is often called diathesis.
What are the main symptoms?
- Redness of the skin - sometimes on the face, mainly on the arms and legs;
- There may be a slight swelling in the area of rashes and redness;
- Severe, pronounced itching, burning;
With age, the disease can transform: the localization of the lesion changes, dryness and peeling intensify - the infant stage passes into the childhood stage, and then into the adolescent-adult stage.
I: ichthyosis
What does it mean? Ichthyo is a "fish". With this disease, the skin begins to resemble fish scales.
What is the nature of the disease?
Doctors still cannot name the exact reason. Major versions: not yet defined gene mutations; hormonal disorders; disorders in the thyroid gland.
What are the main symptoms?
- Excessively dry skin;
- The skin is actively peeling, the horny cells of the epidermis form gray-black or whitish scales (the same "fish scales");
- In some cases, itching is observed;
- Dry skin cracks, and infections and bacteria can easily penetrate through such cracks.
P: psoriasis
What does it mean? Psora is Greek for itch.
What is the nature of the disease?
There is no definite answer. It used to be thought that psoriasis develops against the background of strong psycho-emotional upheavals. Now, most doctors are inclined to believe that the disease is of an autoimmune nature.
What are the main symptoms?
- In the area of the extensor surfaces of the elbows and knees, characteristic psoriatic plaques are formed - the problem area, as it were, slightly rises above the surface of the skin and is covered with silvery scales (skin cells that have not yet had time to peel off, while a new layer of the skin has already formed);
- In some cases, itching is observed;
- Psoriatic plaques are actively increasing in size, the disease affects new areas of the skin;
- Psoriatic plaques can appear at the sites of irritation or abrasion.
E: eczema
What does it mean? The name comes from the Greek word for "boil".
What is the nature of the disease?
Eczema is another allergic dermatosis. Develops against the background of acute allergies, can become chronic.
What are the main symptoms?
- Bright red spots on the cheeks and / or neck, can pass to the hands;
- Small bubbles appear on the affected areas of the skin, which quickly burst ("boil"), releasing serous fluid. A characteristic crust forms in these places;
- Severe, pronounced itching.
Protecting the skin
Of course, at the first symptoms of any skin disease, it is necessary to consult a doctor - a dermatologist and pediatrician. The main drugs are always prescribed by the attending physician, and the parents can choose the cosmetics for their daily care themselves. Hypoallergenic products of the Emolium line of dermatological cosmetics have passed clinical trials and are perfectly combined with medicinal creams and ointments.
In case of severe itching and scratching for the prevention of infectious complications, you can use the triactive agents "Emolium", which contain absolutely safe natural anti-inflammatory components.
For daily washing and bathing, wash gel, moisturizing shampoo and emulsion for bathing "Emolium" are perfect - thanks to balanced alkaline-free components, they gently cleanse delicate baby skin.
For additional protection, hydration and nutrition after washing and before going outside, you can apply Emolium cream or emulsion. These products are quickly absorbed, do not leave marks on clothes and, thanks to long-term and deep hydration, will relieve the baby from unpleasant sensations and dryness, as well as protect the skin from aggressive environmental factors.
