Newspapers, radio and television, leaflets and brochures, dentists and our parents, thanks to which, from childhood we know that our teeth need to be brushed twice a day, there are more vitamins and minerals, and to visit the dentist regularly. But no matter how hard we try to protect them from destruction, very few people by the age of old fully retain all their teeth.

According to statistics, most of humanity sooner or later turns to orthopedic dentists for partial or complete dental prosthetics. And if they write about healthy teeth always and everywhere, then advice for "prosthetics" can be found only in special medical literature. And in this article we will try to correct this annoying fact.

The psychological attitude in dental prosthetics is more important than ever. You need to understand in advance that you will surely face some difficulties, to overcome which you need to make certain volitional efforts.

After the procedure of fixed prosthetics, patients do not experience any special problems. The only unpleasant moment is getting used to the prosthesis. For everyone, it proceeds differently (depending on the individual characteristics and quality of the prosthesis, on average a month or two), but over time everything falls into place and the prosthesis ceases to be perceived as a foreign body.

Have removable prosthetics also have advantages and disadvantages. It is used when the patient has no teeth in the mouth, or there are too few of them to anchor the bridge. As in the case of implants, with the help of removable prosthetics, you can eliminate any defects in the dentition, up to the complete absence of teeth. However, unlike implants, the cost of such a prosthesis is several orders of magnitude lower. Removable dentures are easier to care for and therefore extend their service life. And if necessary, removable dentures can be easily replaced with new ones.

The main problems with removable dentures occur during the habituation stage. First, it is, of course, the sensation of a foreign body in the mouth. How quickly this feeling goes away depends on the type of prosthesis and the quality of its manufacture. Secondly, the presence of healthy teeth is of great importance. The more there are, the better the prosthesis is attached to them. Otherwise, the removable denture rests on the gum mucosa, and it is absolutely not intended for this. As a result, chafing and ulcerationcausing unbearable pain. Thirdly, psychological discomfort: the patient may feel that the denture is about to fall out of the mouth, which causes uncertainty in behavior.

The main solution to the above problems is a reliable fixation of a removable denture. For this, a whole series of fixing agents has been produced for a long time. In conclusion, I would like to note that both removable and non-removable dentures do not last forever.
