It looks like it's time for singer Yulia Samoilova to start rehearsals. On the eve of the organizers of the Eurovision Song Contest announced the participation of Russia in the competition.
Representatives of 42 countries will perform at the song contest next year. “After a one-year absence, Russia will take part in the competition,” the organizers said in a statement.
Eurovision 2018 will take place in May, in the capital of Portugal, Lisbon. The first semi-final is scheduled for May 8, the second semi-final for May 10, and the final will be held on May 12.
Earlier, singer Yulia Samoilova confirmed her readiness to represent the Russian Federation at the 2018 competition. “Julia has never been to Portugal. Of course, she would like to go, because performing at Eurovision is the dream of her whole life,”said the press secretary of the artist.
This year, Samoilova planned to perform at Eurovision in Kiev with the song Flame Is Burning, but due to the ban on entry by the SBU of Ukraine, she was forced to refuse to participate in the competition. After the incident, the European Broadcasting Union amended the Eurovision regulations, according to which national broadcasters are not allowed to include in their delegations persons who are restricted from entering the territory of the host country.
