While the Russians are preparing for the Olympics, no less interesting events are being held in Germany. Today, 6 February, the 64th International Berlin Film Festival starts in the German capital. The film forum is considered one of the most prestigious, and many world stars are expected on the red carpet.

The film festival opens with a new film by the famous director Wes Anderson "The Grand Budapest Hotel". According to the plot, the events unfold in Hungary in the 1920s. The main characters in the film are an experienced hotel concierge (Ralph Fiennes) and his young aspiring employee (Tony Revolori). Earlier it was reported that "in the film there will be the theft and return of a priceless Renaissance painting, a battle for the inheritance of a fabulously rich family and many of those events that first gradually, and then suddenly changed Europe in the first half of the 20th century." One of the roles in the film was played by the magnificent Tilda Swinton, whom Anderson mercilessly turned into an old woman.

Anderson's tape is on the list of candidates for the main award of the Berlin Film Festival - "The Golden Bear". In total, 20 paintings are nominated for the award. One of the most anticipated films in the competition is American Richard Linklater's "Boyhood," starring Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke. His new work "To Love, Drink and Sing" will be presented by the patriarch of French cinema, 91-year-old Alain Resnais.

There is no Russia in the competition, but the public will be presented with an animated short film by Leonid Shmelkov entitled “My Personal Elk”.

The non-competitive program of the film forum seems even more interesting than the competitive one. In particular, the long-awaited film by Lars von Trier "Nymphomaniac", "Treasure Hunters" by George Clooney and the film "Beauty and the Beast" by Christophe Gans, starring Vincent Cassel (Vincent Cassel) and Lea Seydoux (Lea Seydoux).
