Why are women more emotional and expansive than men? It turns out it's all about the structure of the brain. Recently, Swedish researchers found two key differences in the processing of serotonin - the so-called happiness hormone - in the brains of men and women. According to experts, this is precisely what explains our imbalance.

Scientists from the Swedish Carolinks Institute conducted studies on the basis of brain tomography and made sad conclusions for women. It turns out that women have more serotonin receptors than men. It would seem that this is good, as well as the newly discovered fact that women have a lowered level of a certain protein, which “picks up” the spent serotonin, and therefore, the mood should be more positive.

“But in fact, from the Swedish studies, the opposite follows, because cells acquire the maximum number of receptors exactly when they are deficient in chemicals, in this case serotonin,” writes Inopressa.ru with reference to the Daily Mail. Consequently, women initially have too little serotonin.

In addition, there are more stress and psychological trauma in the life of the fair sex, and over time, the brain and adrenal glands lose their ability to regulate mood and libido. Therefore, women are more prone to depression. Moreover, these tendencies can be exacerbated due to the high-protein, low-calorie diet that ladies follow in an effort to lose weight.

According to scientists at Oxford University, three weeks of calorie restriction lowers tryptophan levels, especially in women.

What to do? Experts recommend eating insulin-stimulating carbohydrates. Perhaps that is why women are more likely than men to be "chocolate addicted": for them, it is a cure for bad moods.
