In particular, some of the jewelry is engraved with "I hug tightly" - one of the most common phrases in the correspondence between the monarch and Wallis.

Most of the jewelry on display is made by Cartier. The couple began purchasing jewelry from the best European jewelry houses back in the 1930s. Cartier was one of their favorite jewelery houses, and Cartier director Jeanne Toussaint personally created several jewelery especially for the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

The jewelery on display at the auction includes the Duchess of Windsor's beloved diamond bracelet, which supports nine cross-shaped charms set with precious stones and engravings on the back. The Duchess wore it during the wedding.

One of the most valuable lots is a panther bracelet with onyx and diamonds. Its cost, like the price of a diamond-ruby flamingo brooch, can be up to one and a half million pounds. The list of the most expensive items also includes a heart-shaped brooch with emeralds, rubies and diamonds, it has the initials "W. E." (Wallis, Edward). The Duke ordered it in 1957 for the 20th wedding anniversary.

It is known that all items that will be auctioned belong to one person, but Sotheby's does not name the current owner.
