Thinking of purchasing a new smartphone? Take your time, it is likely that today's latest gadgets will turn out to be hopelessly outdated junk in just a couple of years. And even quite compact iPhone 4S already looks very bulky in comparison with the new development of scientists. A group of American and Finnish specialists have created contact lenses that will become a universal hands-free device that replaces computers and smartphones.
Scientists are working on a prototype contact lens with a built-in display that can create "augmented reality" effects or broadcast video directly to the retina.
The futuristic technology has already been tested on rabbits with no apparent side effects. Bionic - in other words, based on principles borrowed from wildlife, lenses are the fruit of the works of Professor Babak Praviz.
According to the developers, if you connect lenses with biosensors implanted in the body, it will be possible to quickly receive information about the state of the body.
So far, he has developed a lens that incorporates micro-components such as an LED indicator, an antenna for receiving information via wireless communication, and an electronic circuit. The professor believes that someday we will be able to send all the necessary information directly to the lens. As noted by the media, until now, information vision - the ability to broadcast information directly into the field of view of a person - has existed only in science fiction, as, for example, in the movie "The Terminator".
“We still need to improve the antenna mechanism and optimize the power transmission over the wireless connection. This requires a bit of work. Our next goal will be to display a small piece of text on the lens,”commented Professor Praviz.

Scientists have created chocolate with a rejuvenating effect
Every woman knows perfectly well that chocolate cheers up. However, if you use too much of this antidepressant, problems with the figure are possible. Fortunately, science is not standing still, and scientists are working not only on revolutionary technologies in medicine, but also pleasant little things like chocolate that slow down the formation of wrinkles.
Scientists have dispelled myths about the size of male dignity
A rather peculiar gift for International Women's Day was presented by a group of British scientists. In a specialized edition dedicated to urology, the results of the largest and most objective study of the length of the male penis are published.
Scientists have discovered a link between growth and intelligence
According to one of the popular signs, people of tall stature do not differ in a serious level of intelligence. Like, the mind has gone to growth. However, Scottish scientists decided to find out this issue empirically and came to a completely opposite conclusion.
Scientists have developed a new theory of aging
The question "Is rejuvenation possible?" has been tormenting humanity for centuries. Scientists are desperately trying to invent an elixir of youth, or at least postpone the onset of old age. For the past few years, science has been dominated by the assumption that free radicals are to blame for the aging of the body, but a number of experts believe that the theory is already outdated.
Scientists have developed a new formula for determining a healthy weight
For a long time, the ratio of height to weight has been actively used by physicians to determine the risk of developing obesity. But times are changing, and specialists are developing both more complicated and simplified formulas. So, British scientists have recently presented a very simple formula, which requires only a centimeter tape to calculate.
