In most modern cultures, society tends to be monogamous. It is believed that adultery does not have the best effect on the psyche and, as a result, on the state of health in general. But there is also a completely different point of view. For example, many Amazonian cultures encouraged polygamy and polyandry, not for fun, but for the sake of the future.

Anthropologists at the University of Missouri have concluded that the "lewdness" of Amazons and Amazons is not a sin, but a social norm: "Among some Amazonian cultures, it was not customary not to change," says study leader Robert Walker.

However, scientists did not understand why not only men, but also women did not differ in affection for one sexual partner. Anthropologists conducted an ethnographic analysis of settlements located in South America, and found that in most Amazonian cultures (70%), multiple sexual relations were welcomed by society. According to scientists, women had sex with several men for the health and social well-being of future children, Infox.ru writes.

Not knowing how a child was conceived, the Amazons believed that in this way they were able to “collect” the best qualities from the best men. Therefore, having made fathers the most clever, strongest and smartest man, they will be able to give birth to a child who will combine all these qualities.

“Every sexual partner was considered the father of a child born,” says Robert Walker.

Children born to a dissolute mother also had social benefits. So, the second, third and subsequent fathers helped the woman to raise the child. If a woman lost her main sexual partner (the father of the family), then the children did not become orphaned, but used the help of a “spare” dad.
