It turns out that women with wide hips are less at risk of heart disease and diabetes than their thinner friends, Swedish scientists have found. That is, in fact, ladies whose thighs exceed 100 centimeters have better health than their skinny young ladies. Scientists believe that this state of affairs depends on the presence of fat in the thighs and buttocks.

After 25 years of research, Swedish doctors can argue that fat can be beneficial as well. Of course, this does not mean that fat is healthy. Women who have fatty deposits in the abdomen and waist are even more at risk of premature death.

Fat deposited in the abdominal areas is constantly being destroyed and transformed, and thus, penetrates into the bloodstream, which can cause problems in the work of blood vessels. Fat located in the hips and buttocks is almost harmless. The results of the study, which was conducted on women from 38 to 60 years old, were presented at an international conference at the University of Gothenberg.

But according to research from the University of Washington in Seattle, people with thin waists and massive hips are more at risk of developing Alzheimer's disease than those who have a smaller waist and narrow hips.

The study involved 2,500 people who did not initially have symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. During the course of the study, 89 of them developed the disease. A thorough examination of the participants in the experiment showed that they all had similar physical characteristics, except for one - the "waist / hip" ratio. The patients had a relatively thin waist and wide hips. The waist / hip ratio shows the distribution of body fat. Numerous studies have shown that waist fat is less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease. True, scientists explain this fact somewhat cynically: people with fat deposits in the waist area simply do not live up to the age when senile insanity usually begins. Heart disease and diabetes "get" to them before insanity.

By the way, the most heart troubles happen from 4 to 6 am on Mondays and Fridays. So measure your waist and hips and watch out for dangerous hours and days of the week! And be healthy!
