Mustache, paws, tail - these are his documents

Does your child drag all the street animals into the house? Falling asleep at a party on the rug in an embrace with a huge master's dog? Or do you and for yourself notice bouts of affection for stray cats? Congratulations - the ranks of pet owners are likely to join. You will have a fascinating process of choosing the breed and sex of a future dog or cat, and it would be good to know some"

Pedigree animals usually have pedigrees. It is this document that is the guarantor of the purebredity of the animal. However, the huge number of puppies and kittens sold without documents does not mean that they do not correspond to their breeds. If you are able to independently distinguish, say, a black poodle puppy from a kerry blue terrier, then you can safely go to the zoo market. However, the absence of a pedigree in a puppy automatically excludes its further participation in exhibitions and breeding. Of course, you will not love your pet less, but if you plan to get offspring from him sooner or later, think about it. Many people who have bought a puppy under the influence of an instant impulse "WHAT-HIM-EYES!" - one day they decide to come to an exhibition to show an expert their handsome man. And here they are in for a bitter disappointment, because, it turns out, their pet cannot compete with others. Often this is hard for children, who are usually very keen on a new occupation. You don't want to put other people in a stupid position, do you?

It is better to have a dog with a pedigree and not go to exhibitions with it than to want it and not have the necessary documents. Naturally, the price of puppies with and without documents is fundamentally different - but the costs of breeders (bitch owners) are completely different. For puppies to be sold, the dog must be regularly taken to exhibitions, while paying a registration fee.

The services of a veterinarian, groomer (dog hairdresser), trainer, and finally, feeding an animal is also by no means cheap. Therefore, most breeders, when asked by buyers about bargaining, reasonably ask: if you do not have enough money to buy a puppy, what are you going to keep him for?

Pedigree and veterinary passport

But suppose you are no longer hesitant about the pedigree. What do you need to know in this case? There are various international canine organizations that unite dog breeders. The largest of them is FCI (Federation Cynologique Internationale), which, in turn, includes cynological organizations from different countries. As a rule, they are simply called: Kennel Club of Finland, Romania, etc. In Russia, the member organization of the FCI is the Russian Cynological Federation (RKF). She gives out pedigrees of the established pattern. Therefore, when buying a puppy, check with the breeder if the puppy will have a RKF pedigree.

Together with the puppy (which must have a stamp in the ear or groin), you must receive from the breeder a puppy card (with the indicated stamp number), which is later exchanged for a pedigree. In case you purchased a puppy abroad, you should also be given a pedigree card in your hands, which must be registered with the RKF. Abroad, and already in Russia, microchipping of animals is becoming widespread - at the same time, the chip must be indicated in the pedigree.

For all manipulations with documents, it is not at all necessary to go to the RKF on your own, it is enough to hand over the documents to the kennel club of which you are a member.

To monitor the health of your pet and not forget to get vaccinated on time, you need to have a special veterinary passport - you can purchase it at a pet store or veterinary clinic. Each vaccination will be recorded by a doctor and confirmed by the seal of the clinic. You will need this to visit exhibitions or travel to other cities, since in order to transport dogs by any type of transport, you must provide a veterinary certificate in Form N 1, which is issued on the basis of a veterinary passport.

Beauty contests

Shows are subdivided into international, all-Russian / or regional and monobreed (where dogs of only one breed are involved). Accordingly, the international competition is for the CACIB certificate (candidate for international champions of beauty), for all-Russian and regional - for CAC (candidate for national champions of beauty), for monobreed breeds - for the certificate of CCC (candidate for champion of the National Breed Club). The representativeness of the show is largely determined by the number of certificates - whether they are awarded in each age class, or only to the best male and the best female in the breed. After collecting a certain number of certificates, you can exchange them for a Champion certificate.

To quickly understand the exhibition system (in fact, it is not so complicated), it would be wise to visit an exhibition with a young dog. Dogs can participate in the puppy class from 4 months old, in the junior class - from 9 to 18 months. During this time, you will get to know the breed experts, see with your own eyes the renowned Champions and be able to find out all the questions that interest you. Do not forget to ask a professional to trim or trim your dog if its coat requires such grooming. In this case, amateur performance does not bring anything good - even if it seems to you that your dog looks like an illustration in the "user manual" for a hairdresser, it will not be so.

Observe in advance exactly how you need to move around the ring with a dog of your breed. If possible, ask your breeder or other experienced handler to take your dog into the ring for the first time. Naturally, she should by this time be trained to show her teeth and let herself be touched by an expert.

Should I get offspring?

There are certain conditions for admitting dogs to breeding. Perhaps your dog - certainly wonderful in every way - still falls short of the required minimum (show grade "excellent" or "very good"). In this case, you will not be able to tie it through the club. Contrary to popular belief about the need for mating for the health of the animal, we note that it has long been proven that there is NOTHING BAD from sterilizing an animal (or simply avoiding mating).

If your dog has the necessary show grade, you need to contact the club, where you will be given the documents necessary for mating. You should not leave this for last, because failure to comply with the deadlines for submitting tribal documents is fraught with refusal to issue. There is also an age range for admission to breeding, so check with the experts in advance at what age you can breed your dog. For some breeds, a prerequisite for admission to breeding is the presence of certain training or passing a behavior testing system (especially for service breeds!), As well as veterinary examination for pathologies of the structure of the joints. Take care of this in advance!

The main prize is pleasure

What does this seemingly complex system give to dog owners? Probably, first of all - great pleasure from the process of breeding thoroughbred animals, the opportunity to communicate with them, making new friends. Shows are the same sport, because in order to win, one must not only have good initial data (a beautiful dog), but also learn to emphasize its strengths and hide its weaknesses. For children, dog shows can be an excellent opportunity to prove themselves by studying at the school of a young handler - the winners of the corresponding contests are provided with many gifts, including trips abroad!

Ultimately, the main thing is to love your pet. He will repay you a hundredfold!
