Another Burton film was released, where one of the main roles is played by Johnny Depp. If you, like the editorial staff of "Cleo", love Burton's scary tales and admire Johnny's talent, then we invite you to immerse yourself in memories and identify the best product of their co-creation. What was Burton's best film? What are you ready to watch over and over again?

Edward Scissorhands (1990)

This is Depp's first role for Tim Burton. It brought Depp his first Golden Globe nomination and the first fainting spell on the set (the hero wears a tight leather suit throughout the film, and during the filming of the chase scene, Depp naturally fainted from the heat - not his first or last victim to art). In addition, 27-year-old Johnny had to lose 10 kilograms of weight for the role to look younger, because his character is actually a child.

In this film, the actor played the role of Edward, an artificially created person. Its creator dies before he can finish the job. Edward is left with scissors for hands.

It is quite difficult for this scary outwardly, but pure and sincere creature to communicate with people. And things go awry when Edward falls in love.

Ed Wood (1994)

The tragicomedy "Ed Wood" is dedicated to the director who gained fame "the worst in the history of Hollywood."

The main role, of course, was invited by Johnny Depp. By that time, he and Burton had already become pretty good friends.

A young man without special talent dreams of making his own film. So, having lied from three boxes, Wood convinces one producer, who specializes in films of the lowest quality, to give him the opportunity to make a picture. For one of the roles, he calls the performer of the roles of Dracula in horror films 20 years ago. Oddly enough, he actually manages to start producing films …

Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Sleepy Hollow is a gothic tale, a genre that went out of style long before Tim Burton became a director. The director actually breathed new life into the Gothic direction in cinema. Johnny Depp this time happened to play the role of eccentric constable Ichabod Crane. The constable is very responsible for his work, thoroughly studies forensic science, constantly strives to improve the methods of investigation.

The authorities send Crane to investigate a series of strange murders in one of the suburbs of London called Sleepy Hollow. There he comes to the conclusion that his technique and logic are useless, because he was faced with real ancient magic.

Nevertheless, Crane enters into a fight with otherworldly forces, at the risk of losing not only his life, but also his soul. The film turned out to be mysterious and very beautiful.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is Burton's special creation. While creating the film adaptation of the book of the same name by Roald Dahl, the director used his talent as an artist to the full, with amazing skill having recreated everything described in the book in his own manner. This is a colorful and funny film.

Depp played the role of the owner of the chocolate factory Willy Wonka - an eccentric misanthrope, a genius of confectionery art.

For the past twenty years, no one has seen Wonka, and not a single worker has left the factory gates. However, his best candy in the world continues to hit the shelves. One day the pastry chef announces a kind of lottery, a drawing of five tickets. Those five children who find tickets will receive an unprecedented prize. They will be able to go on a tour of his factory and learn all his secrets. Who would have thought that one important miscalculation would creep into this venture, which the ingenious Wonka, it would seem, very carefully thought out …

Corpse Bride (2005)

Corpse Bride is an animated film conceived by Tim Burton many years ago. Depp here voices the main character, a shy young man, Victor. Therefore, alas, you can enjoy its voice acting only by watching the film in the original. The plot is as follows: the marriage of Victor Van Dort and a girl named Victoria is organized by the parents. And yet Victor and Victoria fall in love with each other for real.

Alas, at the rehearsal of the wedding, the timid Victor was embarrassed, mixed up the words and fled into the forest. Alone, it became easier for him to rehearse the marriage promise.

He put a wedding ring on a twig and, lo and behold, awakened a dead bride to life, who still slept in the ground in that very place. Victor ends up in the afterlife. Now he needs to get out back, preferably without the dead girl, and reunite with his real lover.

Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)

Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is perhaps Tim Burton's darkest film. This adaptation of the classic Broadway musical of the same name tells the story of the exiled and then returned to his hometown of the talented hairdresser Sweeney Todd, played by Johnny Depp.

The film is not for the faint of heart. Todd takes revenge on everyone who separated him from his beloved, and on this cruel world at the same time. He opens a barber shop above the cafe. The cafe is being held by his girlfriend. He kills some of the clients who come to him to shave, and sends the bodies to the basement, where they become filling for pies.

Johnny no longer appears in the form of an eternally young boy. Sweeney Todd's face bears the stamp of tragedy. Even the smiles that appear on his face are frightening. He is cold and merciless.

Alice in Wonderland (2010)

Three years later, Johnny Depp reappears in the Tim Burton film. This time he plays the Mad Hatter in a variation on Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. Here we see Johnny at 46, but time doesn't seem to touch him.

His Mad Hatter is really mad. He seems to live in two worlds. In one world, he is obsessed with ideas for new hats. In another, he appears as the defender of the Land of Wonders, one of the few who can dare to oppose the quarrelsome and cruel Red Queen named Irazebeta who has seized power.

What is your favorite Burton / Depp movie?

"Edward Scissorhands"
Ed Wood
"Sleepy Hollow"
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"
"Corpse Bride"
Sweeney Todd, Demon Barber of Fleet Street
"Alice in Wonderland"

Depp in this film is very mobile and flexible. His body suddenly bends one way or the other. He seems to be dancing all the time, and his fingers, all in cuts, are constantly fingering an invisible thread.

The Hatter's gaze here is completely crazy, to the point of creeping on the skin, but it is around him that the people of a magical land gather, ready to fight for the world that is dear to them.

Tim Burton once said that he loves Depp because "he is never the same." It looks like Depp could have responded with a similar compliment to Burton. That's all for now Burton's films and Depp, but let's hope there will be more of them soon.
