This year's Cannes Film Festival will open with a new Woody Allen film starring Carla Bruni. And it is possible that next year we will be able to watch Allen's film, but with the participation of Nicolas Sarkozy. At least the director himself is ready for such an interesting collaboration and even roughly imagines the role of the French president.

“If such an idea had ever occurred to me, I would have easily picked a role for him. I think he can play Bogart's hero,”the filmmaker said in an interview with the French weekly Journal du Dimanche.

According to Allen, Sarkozy would fit the role of a "tough guy", similar in role to the roles of Joe Pesci, who is known for the films "Raging Bull", "Once Upon a Time in America" and "Nice Guys."

The question about Nicolas Sarkozy arose from the French journalist due to the fact that Allen recently shot his wife Carla Bruni in his film - she played a cameo role in his last film Midnight in Paris.

Recall that Allen invited Karla to shoot his 41st film last year. But then, on reflection, the director decided that it was somewhat risky. “Bruni is not a woman who makes her living as an actor. She is the first lady,”explained the filmmaker. According to him, in the event of a "crisis or other important event," Bruni will have to neglect filming for the sake of fulfilling his direct duties. But in the end, Allen decided to experiment.

The filming of one of the episodes of the tape in the Latin Quarter in July 2010 became one of the most talked about news. Bruni, who appeared twice on the screen before her marriage, got the modest role of director of the Parisian museum. According to British tabloids, 35 takes had to be done for one scene with the participation of the first lady of France. Overall, though, Allen was pleased with the collaboration.

In a new interview, the director denied rumors that Bruni would star in him again, in a more serious role. “She has no intention of becoming an actress,” he said.
