Today, few people doubt the benefits of chocolate. Of course, if we are talking about a reasonable amount of goodies. However, manufacturers claim that chocolate products are still undervalued. For example, researchers at Hersheys stated that dark chocolate contains more antioxidants than natural blueberry and cranberry juices.

Earlier, scientists from Hull University and Hull York School of Medicine, led by Professor Steve Atkin, proved that chocolate can relieve symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome. The fact is that dark chocolate is rich in chemical compounds that improve signal transmission in the brain. A group of volunteers were asked to consume dark chocolate for eight weeks. This was followed by a break and resumption of the regime, however, instead of ordinary chocolate, they were given chocolate with a lower cocoa content, but with a similar taste. As the study progressed, participants were asked about how they were feeling. In turn, the volunteers noted an improvement in their condition.

Cocoa and dark chocolate took top places for flavonols, types of antioxidants credited with miraculous properties that include wrinkle protection and a reduction in the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Experts specifically compared the antioxidant levels of blueberry, cranberry, pomegranate, and acai berry juices. The corresponding level was also measured in dark chocolate bars weighing 40 grams, in mugs of cocoa and hot chocolate. As a result, small bars of chocolate became the leader.

Dr. Debra Miller, one of the authors of the study, is sure that people should pay attention to the value of chocolate, forgetting about such concepts as fats and proteins. Just a bite of chocolate a day can reduce your risk of heart disease by one-third. The ideal ratio is 6, 7 grams per day. Researchers even claim that the smell of chocolate protects against colds.

At the same time, hot chocolate lovers should not get carried away with the delicacy. Liquid chocolate ranked last in all tests. Most likely, during its preparation, all antioxidants were destroyed.
