I have a good friend. In general, she is a calm and rational person, has a good education, has all the qualities of a valuable employee for any organization, she seems to be a very disciplined and thorough employee. In interviews, she invariably makes the best impression on employers. She gets the best seats and tempting salaries. But, having worked in one place for six months, she suddenly quits. Having become free, my friend again starts looking for a new job. And so in a circle. Her work book is replete with different handwritings of personnel officers, you can use it to study the labor market in our city. And she does not see anything strange in this state of affairs, because, according to her, this is just a search for oneself.

The phenomenon of such "anxiety" is observed not only in the business sphere, but also in any other. A person cannot choose one thing: one husband, one place of residence, one dish. And throwing begins, the choice of a more suitable, more successful option, the search process does not stop, but turns into a kind of end in itself. Such people set themselves some new barriers and try to overcome them. Having overcome, they lose all interest in the present and rush to new heights. Constant ascent higher and higher takes the form of a disease and carries them away as much as they lose interest in everything else. If this is familiar to you, let's try to cope with the glamor together.

Episode 1. Find the problem

Open your work book and count how many jobs you have changed over the past seven years. If there are five or more, then there is already reason to think. Select from this list those from where you left for no apparent reason. That is, your boss did not humiliate you, your employees did not intrigue, the salary corresponded to the average earnings of specialists of your level in the region. Were there such places? Are there more than half of them? Can you clearly explain why you quit? Most of the chronic "defectors" are not able to articulate reasons and convince even themselves that this decision was justified. It seems to them that something pushed them to this, that they suddenly felt the impossibility of working in this place, that they were not appreciated well enough. But no factual evidence can be found.

When you yourself find the "fidget" virus, analyze its causes and effects. First, think about where you picked it up. Maybe, since childhood, you have been trying to prove to yourself and those around you that you are worth a lot, that any doors are open in front of you, that you can do anything. A possible reason is low self-esteem, the need for constant movement, unwillingness to think about failures and problems. This happens if we were not often praised in life, if the parents developed mindless perfectionism in the child, aimed not at the result, but at the process itself. Simply put, you would like to stop, but you cannot. Because pride requires climbing higher. As for the consequences, try to feel the problem by looking 10 years ahead. You will change a few more jobs, leaving an unpleasant impression of yourself, you will learn little in the short time you spend at one job, and you will not achieve any career growth, because it is a reward for dedication and perseverance. Plus, over time, your battered work book will begin to inspire doubts in employers, and it will be oh so difficult for you to find a new springboard for takeoff.

So, if a problem is found and identified as a problem, let's start to deal with it.

Personal experience. My friend Valya practices a "restless" lifestyle in everything. As soon as she graduated from the third year of the institute, her acquaintances took her for a good job part-time. A year later, she went to study in France. When I returned and received my diploma, I found a great place near my house, but literally 3 months later I left to conquer the capital. In Moscow, she first worked in a large cosmetic company, then in a French alcoholic company, then in a bank. Now she is going to quit again just because her boss did not allow her to take a vacation in the heat. And just recently we met, and we were talking about our earnings. In fact, it turned out that I earn more than she does. Despite the fact that I work in a small town and at 5 pm I already come home, I don’t pay for renting an apartment in Moscow and I have never had enough stars from heaven. As it seemed to her. It was then that Valya began to think that something was wrong …

Episode 2. Prepare conditions

Our career is very important, but do not forget that this is primarily the work with which you earn for yourself and your family for a comfortable existence. Therefore, you need to clearly explain to yourself why you are looking for a job and what you want from it. This, of course, will be a decent wage, comfortable working conditions, warm relations with colleagues and bosses, and the opportunity to spend evenings and weekends with the family. I think this is the standard set for any of us. Imagine your ideal place of work, dream about it. Imagine how you will work in such conditions for many years, how your salary will rise, your trust will be gained, and human relations will be built. In the morning you will go to work with joy, and in the evening you will go home with peace of mind. Introduced? This is called visualizing our desires. If we do this exercise with any of our desires, then psychologists promise its implementation. That is, at least on the condition that luck depends on you.

Tell yourself about all the benefits of a full-time job. Talk to friends who have accomplished a lot.

And besides, try to achieve stability in your personal life. A harmonious personality knows where the balance point is between the importance of work and the warmth of the family. Pay attention to the similarity of your work book with a diary of life events. Maybe you should stop for a while and appreciate everything from which you escaped. Maybe that young man you left last year was exactly the one you still dream of? Decide on your plans for the future and look ahead with hope for the best.

Personal experience. Katya could not find her place in the sun for a long time. She dropped out of the institute three times, choosing completely different specialties. She did not want to work under the leadership of someone, she considered almost any work frivolous. And no one wanted to take her to the top right away. Therefore, Katya rushed between interviews, jobs, acquaintances, courses. And then on the courses (in my opinion, driving) I met Igor and fell in love. Igor turned out to be a serious and domineering man. After the wedding, Katya changed so much that we did not recognize her. She got a job as a sales assistant in an Italian clothing boutique and has been working there for three years, eventually becoming an administrator and a real specialist. He says that this is all Igor. He helped her see life not as a test jump, but as a runway.

Episode 3. Destroy the problem

Choose from all possible offers the job of your dreams. The highest paid and most unapproachable in your opinion. Tell yourself that if you get this job, then in no case will you quit of your own accord. Write on a piece of paper all the good things that you can achieve in this field. Tell all your friends that you are planning to get a job at the most fashionable agency in town. And in any case, do not be afraid of anything - after all, you do not lose anything, but only try to take a new height. The most stable.

When you come for an interview, be sure to think about how you will explain your "jumping ability" from place to place. You will need to answer confidently, without showing remorse, but also without flaunting. In no case do not say vaguely, they say, "I didn't like it there" or "for some reason I didn't get paid enough." Don't mumble. There should not be any personal reasons, for example, "they didn't get along with their superiors or colleagues." A true professional should comment on professionally any of his business actions. Say that the policy in the company did not correspond to your ideas about doing business (let them think whatever), or that you had to change your place of residence (after all, "defectors" often move), or that you did not feel interested in doing such things. Be sure to note that in their company you would like to stay for a long time, because this is exactly what you need. Give reasons for any of your comments, collect data on preferences in the choice of employees from this particular organization. Let employers know you are looking for this job. And yet, among other things, your experience may seem very valuable, because who else has tried so many things - albeit in the shortest possible time?

Personal experience. My friend decided to give up science (he changed several research institutes in five years after graduation) and get a job in a well-known auditing firm. We staged a grandiose attack on this company, sent letters to all our friends asking: whom does the boss prefer to take? Which test is most important? Is it advisable to have references from old-timers? What are the benefits of working for this firm? And literally a week later, we had a dozen very useful letters, recommendations, advice, persuasions and explanations. After that, my friend was no longer afraid of anything and got this place. Now he is somewhere in the Alps - on a business trip.

And when you get the desired job (and I am sure that you will get it, not the first time, but the fifth!), Then you will only have to maintain the desire to strive upward. But you had it before! Just remember: the main thing is that progress is not horizontal, but vertical. With your pride, you can reach unprecedented heights in one place. Do not succumb to temporary destructive moods, look ahead with joy, and success will await you around the next turn.
