Working in the modeling business is harmful to health, both physical and mental. In order to at least partially protect themselves from the harmful effects at work, several models decided to go to extreme measures - to join a trade union. Perhaps now the problem of anorexia in models will be solved.

The British Union of Actors Equity has accepted several models into its ranks. According to the representative of Equity Martin Brown, this is the first time that the members of the organization have become employees of the modeling business, and indeed before, fashion models have never been admitted to trade unions in any country in the world.

Representatives of the modeling business complained about the infringement of their rights in production. In particular, one of the models told how for a photo shoot she was sprayed with car paint and she developed a severe allergy, and a male model complained that the skin on his head was bleeding due to the use of hydrogen peroxide, which lightened his hair.

In addition, models complain that they have to pose for many hours without a proper meal break, not to mention that they are not fed during work. The new members of Equity have already announced this at the next meeting of the trade union.

The names of the models and models who were admitted to the acting union were not disclosed. It is only known that among them there are celebrities.

“We realized that people in the modeling business do not have any voting rights,” said Martin Brown. - Our new members said that they have no one to turn to - if they make claims to their agencies, they are asked not to complain, because in this case their career will end. In addition, they often do not know the real size of their fee, and they are not allowed to eat, despite the long hours of shooting."
