The solemn ceremony of awarding the laureates of the 16th Kinotavr Russian Film Festival has ended in Sochi. The leader in awards was the film "Poor Relatives" directed by Pavel Lungin. This picture received the main prize of the film festival, he also became the winner in the nomination "Best Screenplay" (Gennady Ostrovsky) and received a personal check from the Governor of Kuban.
The prize for Best Actor was shared by Nikita Mikhalkov (film "State Councilor" by Philip Yankovsky) and Konstantin Khabensky (film "Poor Relatives").
On the other hand, the jury chaired by Galina Volchek did not see a single female role worthy of reward, but awarded diplomas to four-year-old Ira Shipova in the film "Nanny Wanted" (directed by Larisa Sadilova) and 95-year-old French actress Esther Guetin, who played in the film "Poor Relatives".
The film "First on the Moon" directed by Alexei Fedorchenko was recognized as the best debut. The same film also won the Guild of Cinema Experts and Film Critics Prize. As noted by the jury, this film was included in the list of the most global and significant projects of the Sverdlovsk Film Studio, not only as one of the most expensive (the film's budget was $ 1 million), but also capable of influencing the course of world history and increasing the prestige of our country in the eyes of the world community. …
The Mikael Tariverdiev prize for the best film score was awarded to Andrei Tsigl ("Remote Access" by Svetlana Proskurina).
The jury of the film festival awarded a special prize to the film by Ilya Khrzhanovsky "4".
The Guild of Film Producers noted the film "Kuktau" by Svetlana Bukharaeva.
16 new feature films took part in the creative competition. Debutants and recognized directors competed on equal terms in the competition. Among the competing films were little-known films that were shown at the box office, their genre range was extremely wide. In a separate competition of short films "Kinotavr. Short Film", which was judged by the jury headed by playwright Lyudmila Kozhinova, the winner was the film "Two" directed by Edward Pari.
"The festival should become a powerful uniting force for all who, in one way or another, are connected with the world of cinema. Domestic cinema should become an industry in the most positive sense," said at the closing ceremony the head of the CTC Media holding, to which Mark Rudenstein transferred the rights to organize the film forum, Alexander Rodnyansky.
A summary of the prize-winning films:
"Nanny Wanted": Vera and Andrey can be envied. Money job, a house in a prestigious suburban village, a solid foreign car. The young spouses even got a servant: Uzbek builders are working tirelessly on the personal plot, and the executive housekeeper, Aunt Masha, is working on the farm. All that remains is to find a reliable nanny who will look after the restless daughter Alya. But with the advent of the nanny - the former biology teacher Gali - the real problems are just beginning. The family idyll is broken. One harsh word was enough to make the life of the heroes look like a nightmare, not inferior to the horror stories that nanny Galya tells her pupil Ale, freezing with horror and delight …
Action movie "Poor relatives" takes place today in a small southern town on the territory of the former USSR. The main character, Edik Letov, helps people find relatives. He finds them in Canada, Israel, Switzerland … For Edik, this is a business, and business is trouble-free. If the real relatives are not found, Edik will arrange for a replacement. And everything seems to be going well in his small firm. But since his clients are lonely people, they pour out so much love and warmth on their foreign guests that they cannot even think about their imaginary - and are imbued with a reciprocal feeling. All this creates a pretext for many incredibly funny, touching, and sometimes tragic situations.
"First on the Moon": Starting to shoot a film about the history of rocketry, the film crew discovered sensational materials about the pre-war space program of the USSR. In this regard, during the filming, it was necessary to urgently change the script, since these materials completely changed the idea of civilization about its modern history.
The film was filmed for two years, because the investigation brought the film crew to such distant countries as Chile, Polineasia, Mongolia, South Africa … The UN film archive (New York), the newly opened archives of the FSB (former NKVD film archive), provided great help. secret filming of special services in South Africa, Mongolia, Crimea.
It all started with the study of materials about the most ancient civilizations. It turns out that philosophers and scientists of antiquity already dreamed of conquering space: the first inventor of the rocket, the Chinese Zen master Gong-Liang (11th century), the Italian inventor of rocket vehicles Giovanni di Fontan (14th century), the German alchemist Johan Folk (15th century). In the 19th century, Russian military inventors Konstantinov, Shilder, Grigoriev also worked on this issue … And only the first builders of communism in the USSR were able to launch an aircraft into unconquered space in 1938!
The viewers of this film will be shown unique iconographic materials collected in museums and libraries around the world. Only they will be able to see the world's first spaceship and learn about everyday life, exploits and the tragedy of the first squad of Soviet space pilots.
Documentary footage and artistic filming make up a harmonious whole, so it is sometimes impossible to say where the artistic presentation of the material intersects with the real documents.
