At the British Fashion Awards yesterday, Phoebe Philo, chief designer at French fashion house Chloe, was named Designer of the Year.

British Fashion Awards is a popular and prestigious award, a kind of "Oscar" for the fashion business. The ceremony was held at the famous London Victoria & Albert Museum. First, a traditional cocktail with champagne, and then an exclusive dinner at the stunning Raphael Gallery for 400 fashion designers, couturiers, press and celebrities.

During her several years as Chloe's chief fashion designer, Phoebe Philo managed to create an original style that would appeal to most young women. As indisputable merits, the jury noted "an amazing ability to create luxurious style on the verge of swagger", as well as Philo's bright personality. By the way, over the past 10 years, not a single female fashion designer has been awarded such a high rating.

Accessories from the Mulberry label were named "Best Accessories". The Mulberry handbag is already immortalized in Woody Allen's new film, with Scarlett Johanssen walking around with it.
