Smile if you got fired
Smile if you got fired

The main difference between the concepts of "fired" and "quit" is in the so-called psychological tone of the situation. When we change our place of work on our own, we get a work book in the personnel department with ease, and sometimes with such an expression on our face, as if a stone had fallen from our shoulders. But when we are confronted with a fact, they say, excuse me, you are fired … The effect is as if not having time to turn around the corner, we were already awarded a slap from there … Although, according to the Labor Code, we must be warned about dismissal two weeks in advance. On the one hand, in private offices this is observed, frankly, not sacredly, but on the other - two weeks is the way to even more stress when you get such a hated "position" - unemployed …

Psychologist Ekaterina Goldberg talks about how to avoid the stress of losing a job:

- Stress in this case is inevitable, because dismissal brings with it a change in the order of things to which we are accustomed. Work from 9 to 18, home, next day work again, home again - this is stability, let's say. Therefore, when the system of organization of our life begins to break down, we naturally get nervous, worried, we have fears and so on. This is inevitable, firstly, and secondly, it is absolutely normal. The only question is how big our losses will be in this situation.

- How can you help a person who has lost his job?

- Only he can help himself. Of course, today in large cities there are many centers of psychological support for people who have been left without work. But I think there is no need to rush to such centers. My work experience suggests that a person who has problems with employment, coming to a psychologist, engages in self-deception. A psychologist is not God and you need to remember that in such a center you will not find a job, simply because psychologists have a different task. It is important to understand that no matter what high-paying job you lose, this is not the end of the world. If you are a good specialist, have work experience and sincerely love what you do, you will definitely find yourself a new place of work …

Here are some simple rules rather than tips to keep in mind:

1. Don't give up. Allow yourself one day of rest and immediately go in search of a new job. To do this, you do not have to run around the city and read the announcements on the poles. Call your friends and acquaintances, let them know that you are a "free bird", because a conversation they accidentally overheard about a vacant position will allow them to immediately propose your candidacy. Buy several newspapers with job advertisements, send your resume to as many places as possible …

2. Don't grab the stars from the sky. Starting with a small salary, you can make a career within the walls of one office and get a lot more than you received as soon as you got a job.

3. Know your worth. This rule does not exclude the latter. Just know how to distinguish between frank "noodles" from a normal job offer.

4. Think about why you were fired and not someone else. Try to take into account your mistakes, analyze them soberly and not repeat them at a new place of work.

5. Remember that a cook, educator, manager, salesperson is not a career. A career is a secretary - a deputy chief - a boss … Maybe you got a chance to make a career?

Good luck will surely smile at you if you, in spite of everything, will also smile.
