Having successfully proved the existence of pheromones in insects and animals, scientists suggested that humans have them. And they were right. True, there are interesting nuances in this regard.

Specialists of the Research Institute of Human Morphology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, studying this topic, believe that sensitive cells located in the region of the nasal septum participate in the selection of sexual partners in humans (information goes directly to the brain). This notorious area was schematically dubbed the "second nose". But even if a person's so-called "second nose" does not work for some reason, he is still able to pick up chemical signals.

Pheromones are biologically active substances released by humans and animals into the environment and specifically affecting behavior, physiological and emotional state.

Recent data suggest that the functions of the "second nose" can be taken over by some cells of the main organ of smell. Moreover, "nose No. 2" can perceive only sexual or social smells, practically not reacting to other, even strong (pungent or spicy) aromas. There is an assumption that the "second nose" is the organ of that very sixth sense, which we call intuition. He chooses a partner for us not for beautiful eyes, but at the genetic level.

But ordinary smells can be used in everyday life, if only in order to force a store visitor to make a purchase. For example, it has long been found that for most people the smell of freshly baked bread is associated primarily with the feeling of home warmth and comfort. That is why now many large stores bake their own bread, placing the bakery as close to the entrance as possible. Once we enter the supermarket and get a sense of serenity, we will most likely buy something here.

Today, a whole army of fragrance designers is engaged in the correct distribution of fragrances in sales areas. Their task is to force us to make a purchase and very often it is successfully solved. At worst, specially selected scents will leave a pleasant memory in our memory, which after some time will make us return to this particular store.
