Most of us knew this very well. But researchers at the University of Rochester in New York have scientifically confirmed that women in red are the most favored by gentlemen. During the experiment, experts showed two groups of students photographs of "moderately attractive" girls dressed in red and blue outfits. After that, the young men were asked to voice what they would like to ask these representatives of the fairer sex. Those students who were shown pictures of the girls in red phrased their questions in a more playful, flirtatious way.
At the second stage of the study, the subjects were asked to imagine that they are alone in a room with the girl depicted in the photo. The students had to place their chair opposite the chair in which the imaginary young lady was sitting. The young men, representing the girl in red rather than blue, moved their chair as close as possible.
Scientists believe that the results of their research may be of interest not only for the fairer sex, but also for marketers and advertising specialists.
“American researchers believe the phenomenon is rooted in evolution,” writes Fiona Macrae, author of an article published in the Daily Mail. - In the animal kingdom, red often means that the female is going through a period of greatest fertility. For example, female baboons and chimpanzees blush noticeably before ovulation.
"Women can count on success by wearing a red blouse or dress to date with the man they want," says researcher Niesta Kaiser of the University of Rochester in New York.
