The famous star of the national cinema passed away yesterday evening. One of the most prominent actresses of the last century, Nonna Viktorovna Mordyukova, died at the age of 83 in a Moscow hospital.

The cause of death is not reported, however, it is known that the actress suffered from several diseases, including diabetes, and in recent years was often hospitalized.

The last time, according to unconfirmed reports, she was hospitalized at the Central Clinical Hospital in March 2008.

Nonna Mordyukova made her film debut in 1947 while studying at VGIK. For her work in cinema, Mordyukova received several state awards, and was also awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR. By the editorial board of the English encyclopedia "Who's Who" she was included in the top ten most outstanding actresses of the twentieth century.

As the sister of the actress Natalya Mordyukova told the ITAR-TASS agency, a few hours before her death she talked with her sister, who "said that she was feeling well." “It happened the night before at 10 pm in a Moscow hospital,” she said. - A few hours before that we talked with her on the phone, she said that she felt good. I will go to the hospital this morning, after which we will start deciding where Nonna's funeral will take place.”

The sister of the actress recalled that Nonna Viktorovna suffered from a considerable number of diseases, the most serious of which was diabetes. “She suffered a lot, but until her last moment she continued to rehearse, invented roles for herself and dreamed of how she could still play. She just lived in cinematography,”said Natalya Viktorovna.

The last time the actress appeared in public three years ago - in the Moscow House of Cinema, she celebrated her 80th birthday. This hall has probably never seen such a full house: the audience was sitting on the steps, standing in the aisle. And although even then Nonna Viktorovna felt unwell, she spent almost three hours on stage.
