DIY Mother's Day Cards

Postcards are the simplest crafts that you can do for your mom with your own hands. For their manufacture, not only one paper is used, but also other materials - it all depends on imagination.

First postcard

• Fold a blue sheet of A4 thick paper in half.
• On the fold up, mark 10 cm and also put a mark at 6 cm.
• From each mark, we put more points at a distance of 6 cm.
• We connect the points with lines and make cuts along them.

We open the paper, turn the cut out part inside the postcard

Now we fold the 6x1 cm strip in half, cut the corners on both sides

• We make another such side and glue them to the gift box.
• Glue a white sheet of paper 12x10 cm to the top of the postcard.

• Now we take a pink sheet of paper, cut off 1 cm on both sides, and then fold it in half.
• We put in a blank of blue paper, glue it on only one side so far.

• On the front side we find the center, measure 5 cm down from it, put a compass with a radius of 4.5 cm at a point, draw a circle and cut it out.
• We glue the front side to the blue liner.

We glue the whole circle with pearl half-beads

To decorate, we take a 4x4 cm square, fold it in half twice, draw a circle with a leg on it, cut it out and get flower petals

• For one flower, you will need three such parts. Bend all the petals with any round object.
• We glue all the petals together and glue a half-bead in the center.
• We make a leaf from a piece of paper 5x4 cm, just fold it in half, draw a half of a leaf, cut it out. We glue to the flowers.

• We decorate the card near the circle with the required number of flowers and a few more half-beads on the front side of the card. Write an inscription in a circle.
• Let's prepare hearts of different colors and sizes. We glue them together as in the photo and glue them to the gift box inside the postcard.

If there are no half-beads, then they can be replaced with any other decor, but even without them, the postcard will turn out to be very beautiful.

Second postcard

• For the base, we take half a sheet of A4 cardboard of any color. You will also need half of an ordinary white sheet, a paper rectangle 10x14 cm, pieces of paper of different colors.
• Draw a frame on white paper, stepping back from the edge 0.5 cm, cut it off and glue it to the base.

We take a piece of cardboard for the template, cut it into two parts, bend one part in half, draw half a heart

• We also bend the second half of the cardboard, draw a heart, but smaller.
• We cut out each heart. We cut out two large hearts of the same color using templates, but the number will depend on the words of the inscription. We cut out as many small hearts as we like.

• On a sheet of 10x14 cm, draw a jar with a simple pencil, then outline it with a pen and paint with colored pencils.
• We cut out the jar, but not along the contour itself, but retreat 2 mm.

In the center of the large heart we glue the thread, and on top there is also a heart of the same color

• In the same way, we glue all the other large hearts and write inscriptions on them.
• Draw a frame on the front side with a bright marker. We glue small hearts on the jar in a chaotic manner. We outline each with dotted lines.
• We make an incision on the lid in the center.
• Using a piece of paper, we attach the thread to the front side, group all the hearts.
• Apply glue along the edge of the jar, glue it, pull out the thread through the incision, glue the upper strip.

If the hearts are clinging, check how they are glued to each other. Optionally, the card can be decorated with any decor: bows, rhinestones, sparkles.

Third postcard

For the heart template, take a piece of cardboard, bend it in half, draw a half heart, cut it out

We apply the template to a loose pink cardboard, circle it, fold the sheet in half, cut it out

• Draw half a smaller heart on the template, bend it and cut it out.
• Cut out a heart from plain pink paper according to the template.
• Reduce the heart template again, cut out another heart from paper of a different shade.

• For the front side of the postcard, we make another big heart, apply it to colored paper. We outline the contour, draw a heart 1 cm less inside, cut it out.
• We take the smallest heart, put it on a piece of cardboard, draw a cat that holds the heart with one paw, and waves with the other.

• Decorate the heart and glue it under the cat's paw.
• We also decorate the other heart and glue it to a small one, with a cat, like in the photo.
• We glue the light pink heart to the pink one, decorate with applications, drawings, and in the corner we glue a cloud with the inscription.
• With the help of ribbon and tape, we attach the cat to the base so that it can hide in a postcard.

On the very edge of the second heart, we apply glue, glue it, hide the cat, then pull it by the paw, and there is a message for our beloved mother

When gluing two large hearts, we do not glue them on top, otherwise the cat will remain inside the postcard.

Gift with butterflies for mom

Master Class:

• We take any box, open it, put the lid aside for now, and glue the other half with colored paper.
• Now we take a piece of paper to the height of the box itself. Fold it in half, draw the outline of the butterfly (but only half), cut it out and get a template.
• Using a template made of paper of different colors, we will prepare many butterflies, but two things of each color.

We coat the fold of one butterfly with glue, apply a thread and glue a butterfly of the same color on top. Place as many butterflies on one thread as will fit in the box

We glue the lid of the box with colored paper

• Cut out a sheet of white cardboard according to the size of the lid.
• Now we spread the wings of butterflies, thread the thread into the needle, pierce the cardboard, remove the thread and fix it with glue. Next, we attach a few more threads with multi-colored fluttering butterflies.

Apply glue to the cardboard and glue it inside the lid

• We place butterflies in a box, close.
• We write the inscription on colored paper, cut it out and glue it on the lid.

The lid can be decorated as you wish, for example, make voluminous flowers or a large bow out of paper. And make the butterflies themselves not only from paper, but also from shiny felt or foamiran.

Mom's box with a surprise

Another surprise box can be made for Mother's Day. For the craft, you will need very few materials - paper, shiny foamiran and a satin ribbon.

Master Class:

• For a delicate color of the box, take a pink strip of paper measuring 8x21 cm.
• On the strip we make 5 cm marks on the top and bottom, and on the sides we mark 5, 10, 15 and 20 cm.

• Using a ruler and a blunt object, applying slight pressure, draw along all the lines.
• We make folds along the drawn lines. As in the photo, cut off the excess part, and then make cuts along the bottom fold lines to the first.

We take a heart template and outline it along the contour on each side of the future box, cut it out

We glue the sides of the workpiece together, and then the lower part

• Cut out two 5x5 cm squares from the shiny foamiran.
• We apply to one of the sides of the box, redraw the heart, cut out and glue it to the opposite sides of the box.

• Cut out a square of 1414 cm from yellow paper. On each side we make marks: 4, 7 cm, 9, 4 cm, 4, 7 cm, 9, 4 cm, 9, 4 cm, 4, 7 cm, 9, 4 cm and 4.7 cm.
• We draw along the marks with a blunt object, form folds.
• On two parallel sides, we make two cuts up to the first fold.

We glue the blank, forming a box out of it, and then glue squares of shiny foamiran 5x5 cm in size on the sides

• We find the center on the box and make a hole with a sharp object. We put in a loop from a thin satin ribbon, from the back we tie it into a knot.
• Put candies in the box and insert it into the pink box.

Such a box can be made of any size, and put inside what mom loves most.

Bouquet of marshmallows with flowers

A light and beautiful bouquet of small marshmallows and flowers will surely please every mother. Making such a gift is not difficult at all if you follow the step-by-step photos.

Master Class:

• For the bouquet, we will make terry peonies from corrugated paper. To do this, we will prepare 45 4x8 cm segments.
• We fold the segment in half, make an incision at the fold, not reaching the end of 1 cm.
• Then, at an equal distance, we make two more cuts, these will be the petals, in which we sharpen the edges.

• We open the segment, and stretch each petal in the opposite direction, that is, we pull one edge of the petal in one direction, and the other in the other. We do this with all segments.
• To assemble a flower, we take a skewer and one of the blanks. Apply glue to the lower part, apply a skewer and twist the workpiece into a tube. At the point of contact between the glue and the skewer, we pinch with our fingers and wait for the glue to dry completely. The central part of the flower is ready.

We take the second workpiece, easily twist it with a tube, glue the edge. Apply glue and glue to the flower. We make the first row, which should be 2 mm below the central part. We glue the petals themselves with an overlap

We also glue the second row of petals and subsequent ones below the previous one by 2-3 mm

When the bud is collected, straighten all the petals, cut off the extra skewer. We make a few more peonies

• For a foam base, cut out a circle with a diameter of 30 cm, cut at an angle. Also on the basis we draw another circle with a diameter of 20 cm.
• We wrap the foam on all sides with cling film, insert several skewers straight into the central part, and the rest at an angle so that they go to the central skewers.
• We put the edges of the skewers together, fix it with ordinary tape, and glue double-sided tape on top.

• We attach skewers 15 cm long to the sticky layer, and then wrap it with tape on top.
• We glue double-sided tape on the sidewall of the foam, onto which we fasten the paper in silence. To do this, cut one sheet of silver paper in half. We fold the half, crush and glue, collecting it a little with an accordion. After that, gently straighten the paper.

• We cut the film for packaging the bouquet into sheets of 30x60 cm, fold in half a little diagonally. Then again in half, at the bottom we fix it with a stapler. We make a few more such blanks for the whole bouquet.
• We attach the blanks to the stem of the bouquet using double-sided tape. We fix all the blanks with an overlap.

• At the very edge of the leg, we make a sticky layer of scotch tape, wrap it with foil, and tie it with tape.
• In the center of the foam, we glue a sheet of pink in silence, tuck the edges of the paper, make them airy and voluminous. We glue the edges on the contour of the circle 20 cm.

We insert flowers into the foam, and hide the remaining gaps between the peonies with artificial greenery

Now we take toothpicks, break them in half. We insert the broken edge into the foam, and string the marshmallows on the sharp edge

You can simplify the work of making petals, just twist the segment and sharpen the edges. The film can be replaced with any other wrapping paper, such as craft paper. Other sweets can be used instead of marshmallows.

Candy box cake

Such a cake made of sweets in the form of a box is an original gift for Mother's Day. After all, mothers, like children, love sweets and surprises.

Master Class:

1. We cut out a circle with a diameter of 17 cm from polystyrene. Also, we cut out two circles from cardboard - with a diameter of 17 cm and 16 cm. Prepare a strip of cardboard 56x7 cm in size.
2. Now we take a circle of polystyrene, measure 1, 5-2 cm from the edge, draw a circle and cut it out.
3. The resulting blank is completely pasted over with corrugated paper.
4. We decorate a cardboard circle with a diameter of 17 cm with the same paper and glue it to the ring. This will be the bottom of the box.
5. Cut a 56x8 cm strip from the corrugation, glue a strip of cardboard onto it, turn the bottom edge slightly.
6. We glue the strip to the side of the base so that the cardboard is on the outside.
7. We fix double-sided tape on the cardboard in the middle and attach Merci chocolates to it in a circle.
8. We wrap the bottom edge of the box with a satin ribbon, fix the edges with glue, and decorate the top with an openwork ribbon. We also decorate the upper part with lace.
9. We glue the circle made of cardboard with corrugated paper, and glue the side sections with thin lace.
10. Cut off a strip from a thin tape, glue one edge on one side of the lid, and on the other side, the other.
11. We decorate the lid with any decor (you can use artificial flowers or make them from the same corrugated paper with sweets).
12. We put more candy or any other gift for mom inside the box and close it with a lid with flowers on top.

If such a box cannot be made, then using templates you can build a box in the form of a piece of cake. You will get an unusual gift with a surprise.
