As far back as I can remember, all my life I have struggled with my naughty hair: I tied it in a ponytail, cut it off and grew it again, twisted it, dyed it, highlighted it, braided it, pulled it into a bun on the back of my head … Quite often the hair became the object of my close attention. Wherever I was going to go, I always wanted to look my best. This is especially important when there was an important meeting and it was necessary to make a favorable impression.

Psychologists say that people first look at the clothes and hairstyle of the interlocutor, and then evaluate everything else. Remember, moreover, the many legends and stories about the importance attached to hair. Alas, often it is the head of hair that is an indicator of the general health of a person. Therefore, your hair should always look healthy and perfectly styled.

Hair care should begin with the restoration of a healthy lifestyle and normal nutrition. Try increasing your dietary intake of dairy products, vegetable oils and grains - all of which are rich in zinc, magnesium and calcium, which are essential for healthy hair. And more vitamins! Proper care and attention also play a significant role in the health of your hair. What does proper care include? Gentle daily brushing, washing according to the condition of the hair, proper drying and good styling. What hairstyle is complete without a hairdryer?

Once upon a time, women did not know a hairdryer. Their life was unhurried, dust-free: they washed infrequently, respectively, and rarely dried themselves. But now everything is done on the run, in haste. We are in a hurry to live, in a hurry to be in time everywhere. And sometimes there is absolutely no time to wait an hour or two for wet hair to dry naturally. In the morning, no more than 10-15 minutes are allocated for drying hair. A hairdryer is especially relevant for long hair, which takes a long time to dry naturally, but short, naughty ones will become neater and fuller after using the hairdryer. And if there is no hair dryer among the usual things, then it becomes a real female disaster. This "misfortune" recently happened to me: my favorite hair dryer went out of order and I had to go to the store to buy a new one.

When choosing a hair dryer, you need to pay attention to the power and functional features. It is desirable that the hair dryer has several power levels and temperature modes (at least two), so that you can adjust the pressure of the air stream and change its temperature. If you have thick long hair, then, of course, 1600 watts is not a luxury, but a necessity. If the hair is both thin and short, then a hairdryer is needed with a power of 400 - 800 watts. Plus, don't forget that powerful hair dryers don't spare your hair and scalp. Using them regularly, you risk not just losing the vibrant shine of your hair, but also getting dandruff. As for the air temperature regulator, the possibility of supplying cold air ("cool") is a very valuable feature. When doing styling, you first dry the curl of the required shape, and then turn on the "coll" mode for fifteen seconds to consolidate the result. When buying, be sure to try the "cool" mode after hot airflow. For many models, it takes a long time for the red-hot coil to cool down and the air finally goes cool. If you buy a hairdryer for the sole purpose of shortening the time between showering and going outside, the "cool" button will most likely never be needed, as well as temperature control in general. So feel free to do without such bells and whistles.

In general, when buying any thing, including a hair dryer, you need to decide what exactly it is for. For simple hair drying or styling? For styling, you should choose a hair dryer with several nozzles; for simple drying, a powerful hair dryer with two nozzles - a concentrator and a distributor - is quite enough. For curly hair and hair with a perm, it is better to purchase a hairdryer complete with a diffuser attachment. The diffuser is a plastic saucer of any size with many holes and hollow tubes, affectionately called "fingers" in advertisements. "Fingers", as it were, lift the hair from the roots, creating volume. This attachment is suitable only for curly - from nature or from "chemistry" - hair. If you dry straight hair with this diffuser, the hairstyle will look messy, as the ends remain straight. Do not believe in advertising in which straight hair becomes curly after using a hairdryer with this attachment: the diffuser was invented in order to diffuse the air flow and dry not one particular curl, but half the head at once. This saves a lot of time, and also makes the powerful hot air jet softer, more diffused and gentle. But how the styling can be done in this way remains a mystery.

The PHILIPS company has presented to our market so far the most advanced model of a hair dryer with a diffuser - Hydra - Protect Natura HP 4871 FL. Another noteworthy hair dryer is the ROWENTA active diffuser hair dryer: model PH 540 Protect 1800 W. The BRAUN company is especially interested in the attachments of the Braun Sensation 1800, Braun Creation Twist Cool 1600 and Braun Creation Diffusor Duo 1600 models. But know that such hair dryers cannot be cheap!

The simplest and most inexpensive hair dryers are hair dryers with one nozzle - concentrator, which provides quick drying of hair. They are produced by all manufacturers of hair dryers, and, most often, as travel ones. That is, like hair dryers designed for travel. Of particular interest are: BRAUN Silencio 1200 PX 1200, ROWENTA PH 201 Moveling, ROWENTA PH 022 Hairstyle Traveler, MELISSA W 99835 A and W 99835 B.

For those who have little skill in using a hairdryer, it is better to choose a low-power device for styling hair. A low-power hair dryer is especially recommended if you have fine hair. For hair of medium length and short, a hairdryer is best suited: PHILIPS - Hydra - Protect Coiffure HP 4770, Braun Style Shaper HS, Volume Style 667 from the French company BABYLISS, Model HAS 301 from the English company BINATONE, ROWENTA PS 226 and MELISSA ACH 444.

Such a hairdryer is very lightweight and folds up compactly, so it is convenient to take it with you to the pool or on vacation. There is even a special travel option - a battery-powered hair dryer.

The power of the brushes is 140-160 W, that is, almost ten times less than a conventional hair dryer.

Such a hairdryer looks like a small cylinder, at the end of which a nozzle in the form of a round brush is fixed. The set may include several brushes of different diameters. Some models come with a half-round brush head. It is useful for hair with "chemistry" if the curls need to be straightened. The half attachment easily lifts hair from the roots and smoothes strands.

Best of all, a metal brush does its job, due to the fact that it heats up quickly. However, it is often impossible to use a metal nozzle - you can burn your hair and they will no longer succumb to any styling.

Before styling your hair with a hairdryer-brush, you need to air dry it slightly.

When buying, the design of the hair dryer plays an important role and how convenient it is to use (whether it is convenient to hold it and control mode switching). It would be nice if the hair dryer had a ring for hanging this appliance on a hook in the bathroom. Some manufacturers supply their hair dryers with special shelves, stands that can be mounted directly into the wall in a convenient place and at a convenient height.

It is good if the hair dryer is equipped with a removable air filter that can be cleaned periodically. After all, a hairdryer, like a vacuum cleaner, sucks in dust, torn hairs and other "debris". The "clogged" hair dryer works hard, with an effort and drives the air half-heartedly. And good hair dryers also have overheating protection.

The quality of the device is guaranteed if it is manufactured by a company that produces not only household, but also professional, that is, those intended for hairdressing salons, hair dryers. We are talking about such manufacturers as BOSCH, SIEMENS, PHILIPS, BRAUN, MOULINEX. Today on Russian counters there is a large selection of various models of hair dryers from these companies. You should not neglect the hair dryers of the French company BABELISS, if, of course, you can meet them - the devices of this company are not very common in our country.

And the very last thing, no matter how expensive a hairdryer you have, it will not contribute to the health of your hair if you do not know some of the rules for proper hair drying:

1. The distance between hair and hairdryer should be at least 5 centimeters.

2. Dry your hair gradually - use a hair dryer from roots to ends.

3. Direct the air stream as follows: from the back of the head to the front, from the front to the back of the head and from the side.

4. Before drying, you can use special products that protect the hair when drying and combing.

5. Do not dry thin, curly or permed hair with too hot air.
