The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation has presented a production calendar for 2021, taking into account all holidays and days off. Due to the postponement of holidays that fell on a calendar weekend, Russians will have more rest. So, during 2021, there will be 6 extended weekends, and in February we will have a six-day work week.

Weekends and holidays in 2021 in Russia

The draft resolution on the postponement of weekends in 2021, which was promulgated on September 8 on the portal of regulatory legal acts, lists 116 days off and non-working holidays.

As specified in the department, there are no officially established rules for the transfer of working days. The most acceptable and rational option is being developed, taking into account the interests of organizations and various categories of citizens.

If the government of the Russian Federation without changes accepts the production calendar proposed by the ministry, then, unfortunately, it will still have to go to work on December 31. However, the working hours on this pre-holiday Thursday, according to the requirements of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, must be reduced by the employer by one hour.

If, under the terms of production, you have to work as usual for 8 hours, then this is already processing, for which monetary compensation is due. In addition to the additional payment, the employer is obliged to provide time off, provided that the employee expresses a desire. In addition, in accordance with the requirements of the labor legislation of the Russian Federation, payment for holidays with a shift work schedule is doubled.

The main holiday of the month, celebrated on February 23, has changed its name several times over the more than 80-year history of its existence. On this date, the following were honored:

  • workers 'and peasants' Red Army (1919-1946);
  • Soviet Army and Navy (1946-1992);

Since 2002, by decision of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, February 23 has been declared an official non-working holiday.

In 2021, the holiday date falls on Tuesday, so the day off from Saturday, February 20, is planned to be postponed to Monday, February 22. Consequently, in the last month of winter, Russians will have a three-day weekend - from 21 to 23.
