The process of arranging a children's room should begin with the choice of this very room. Of course, if there are only two of them in the apartment, the choice is simplified. If there are several rooms, remember, psychologists insist that the child's room should be large enough in area. And be sure to be light enough.

Therefore, no matter how much you would like to have a large bedroom, think: for you, this is just one zone out of several available, and for a child, the room is multifunctional. If the area of the nursery is insufficient, be prepared for the fact that some of the child's things will gradually settle throughout the apartment - and this is not very convenient.

The question of the actual renovation of the children's room is not too difficult. Maximum simplicity of designs, environmental friendliness of materials and ease of cleaning are the main requirements. Leave the columns, ledges and arches for other rooms. The main principle of the nursery is as much free space as possible. The floor is wooden (the carpet, of course, is warmer, but you will have to clean it from plasticine and dried paints very often). Since most of the children's games are played on the floor, a reasonable compromise is needed. It is best to place a rug in the center of the room so that the child is comfortable to play, but at the same time, the rest of the areas would be convenient for daily cleaning. Wallpaper is suitable for the walls, and not the most expensive ones, since small (and sometimes not very) children love to draw on them. The color scheme can be any, because children, unlike adults, are very fond of bright, sunny colors. Thus, you will be able to fit the nursery into the overall color scheme of the apartment.

Get to know your child

Approaching the main issue - the choice of furniture and accessories - it would be nice to be guided by the character and habits of the child. Some researchers believe that you need to focus on the child's psychotype (recall that according to Jung, there are 16 psychological personality types), which can be determined using tests. So, the researcher Ovcharov offers the following classification:

- Sensory-logic type … Such children are great owners and materialists, and the principles for arranging their room should be constructiveness, manufacturability and practical use of things. For such children, a business style of the interior is acceptable, they need to have a large number of lockers and drawers in order to store personal belongings. And a work corner.

- Sensory-ethical type … Comfort is very important for these children. Warm shades of color, soft and comfortable surfaces are for them. They love to receive guests and want guests to feel comfortable too. These kids love flowers and animals, so plants and aquarium will be useful in their room setting.

- Intuitive logical type … Child explorers who need a stimulus. Their room should be filled with things that satisfy their innate cognitive tendencies. Combined furniture, where each object performs several functions, a computer (after all, such a child is a potential programmer), reference books, constructors - all this should find its place in the nursery. The color scheme is blue, purple, turquoise.

- Humanitarian group of types … These children need an interior that promotes the development of aesthetics and the ability to tune in to a philosophical, contemplative mood. The design styles are very different - from classics to eclecticism. Various paintings or reproductions and musical instruments are welcomed in the interior. The color scheme is also different, however, if possible, gray and other neutral shades should be avoided.

Place or furniture?

Modern trends in children's interiors adhere to general principles: environmentally friendly materials (GOST requirements for children's furniture are much more serious than for adults), versatility, ease of use (the child must fold the bed and open the wardrobes himself), smooth lines that exclude the possibility of injury. By the way, this is why there are traditionally few glass elements in children's furniture.

What should a set of children's furniture include? A separate wardrobe, bed, work desk and several cabinets or shelves for the child's personal belongings. If the nursery is intended for two children, this set is multiplied by two.

Naturally, placing all this in a small area is not an easy task. Manufacturers of children's furniture come to the rescue. For example, one of the greatest inventions - the bunk bed - is extremely helpful in saving space. By the way, even if you have one child, but there is not much space in his room, you can buy a so-called loft bed: the sleeping place is located at the top, and below you can arrange a work area. Or put a sofa for receiving guests. Another "achievement of science and technology" is folding beds. They are attached to a wall or cabinet using a special mechanism, so during the day there is enough free space in the room for games and other activities.

A rationally organized wardrobe, which many manufacturers include in children's headsets today, will also help save space. As for the desktop, you need to keep in mind the height of the child. The best option is convertible models of desktops with the ability to adjust the height and angle of the tabletop, but this is not a cheap pleasure. However, manufacturers of office furniture today produce a sufficient number of special children's chairs with adjustable seat height, and all that remains is to change it with the growth of the child.

And what else?

There must be a lot of storage containers in the children's room, and cabinets and racks do not always save here. Firstly, a child will not clean up toys as carefully as we, adults, clean up our things - he has too little time for this, because there is so much to do! Therefore, it would be wise to purchase several plastic containers where he can store construction sets and other small toys. For "collections" in the form of stones, bolts and nuts, they also need their own places - otherwise all this wealth will be stored in boxes, mixed with broken pencils and spare parts from typewriters.

If your child gravitates towards the fine arts and spends more time with paper and pencil than with toys, buy him an easel and arrange a place for drawing. It doesn't matter if the child will be useful in the future, but you need to do what you love with comfort!

Teach your child to be proud of their creativity! Let the plasticine figurine look more like a bow-legged crow than the cat he sculpted - put it on the shelf. Drawings, appliques, embroideries can be hung on the walls and the exposition can be changed when new exhibits arrive.

And don't forget about the light enough to do all the things you love. The best option is a central light plus additional lamps above the workplace. It is better if the lamps are unbreakable.

Today on the market there are quite a lot of good children's furniture from various manufacturers in a wide variety of price categories. Do not be lazy, look into the shops with your child! So you will find out what exactly he likes, and the child, in turn, will be imbued with pride from the fact that he is consulted, he is treated as an equal in such an important issue - the design of his own first House in his life! Even within the same room …
