This week, the first footage of the new edition of the legendary Pirelli calendar appeared on the web. This year the legendary Patrick Demarchelier worked as a photographer for the calendar, and a whole troop of supermodels of the past and present posed for him: Alessandra Ambrosio, Karolina Kurkova, Miranda Kerr, Helena Christensen and others.

Pirelli is the most famous limited edition calendar for the customers of the tire company of the same name. For the first time, the calendar was released in 1964 and since then it has become an annual one (the exception was only some years when it was not released), and soon it became a cult one. Pictures from the calendar are displayed in galleries and released as albums. Sophia Loren, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Jennifer Lopez, Milla Jovovich, Penelope Cruz and many others adorned him as models. At the same time, only the best world photographers were involved in the work.

1964 year

Photographer Robert Freeman, who worked extensively with The Beatles, was hired to create the 1964 calendar. Together with two models, he went to Mallorca. The photographs created emanated sexuality and at the same time calmness and warmth.

1965 year

In 1965, the shooting of the calendar took place on the coast of the French Riviera. The photographs by photographer Brian Duffy turned out to be sunny and light, but at the same time with a hint of eroticism (the main component of all Pirelli calendars).

1966 year

The following year, the shooting of the calendar moved to Morocco. Under the direction of photographer Peter Knapp, shots of feminine beauties in open swimsuits were created.

1968 year

In 1968, the calendar was filmed on the island of Djerba in Tunisia. The photographer was chosen by Harry Pecinotti, known for being the first to shoot black models for magazines. The calendar featured girls from different parts of the world, but the brightest shot was with a fair-skinned model, carelessly and shyly laughing at the camera.

1969 year

The 1969 calendar was filmed in California. At the time, this state and everything connected with it was the height of fashion. The photographer was again Pecinotti. But they did not look for models - the pictures were taken by accident, they capture scenes from the beach life of Californian beauties.

1970 year

The 1970 calendar is full of heat and sexuality. Its author was Francis Giacobetti (later, as a director and screenwriter, he directed the second film about the infamous Emmanuelle). An unknown but beautiful model went with a photographer to the Bahamas for the sake of a picture.

1971 year

The next year's calendar was again filmed by Francis Giacobetti. Therefore, it became a logical continuation of the previous one, but softer and softer in mood.

1972 year

In 1972, the creation of the calendar was first entrusted to a woman - Sarah Moon, who was called an impressionist photographer. The shooting took place in Paris. The pictures turned out to be very modest, but at the same time very sensual, and the models looked as feminine as possible.

1973 year

Several people were involved in the work on the 1973 calendar - photographer Brian Duffy, artist Allen Jones and airbrush Philip Castle. Each complemented the other's work. Filming was carried out in a London studio, and the footage has traditionally turned out to be quite provocative.

1974 year

The scene from 1974 looks more like a lipstick ad, and a very tempting one. Photography is the handiwork of Hans Forer, a master perfectionist who preferred to take hundreds of pictures to get the best one.

1984 year

Pirelli creative director Martin Walsh decided to use the campaign's products - tires in the new calendar. Tires, or a hint of their presence, have graced every shot taken in the Bahamas by photographer Uwe Ommer.

1985 year

The 1985 calendar was intended to resemble a fashion show. The shot was supposed to have a lot of glamor, luxury and eroticism, of course. One of the models was the famous black beauty Iman, and the photographer was the portraitist of the British royal family Norman Parkinson.

1986 year

In 1986 the company involved photographer Bert Stern and the best students of the Royal College of Art in the creation of the calendar. The result was very unusual.

1987 year

The next year, a new calendar concept appeared. Photographer Terence Donovan captured black models in ethnic outfits for him. Among them was 16-year-old Naomi Campbell, who was just starting her career at the time.

1988 year

The 1988 calendar was again occupied by several masters of their craft - the photographer Barry Lategan was shooting, and the production of the frame was carried out by the musical choreographer Gillian Lin. In the frame in front of us there are only silhouettes, but even without faces, we feel the emotionality of every movement.

1989 year

The next calendar was shot by photographer Joyce Tenneson in New York. The idea of shooting is sculptures that come to life. Indeed, the models seem to be wonderful monuments, while at the same time they managed to melt the cold stone with their sensuality.

1990 year

On the pages of the 1990 calendar, it was decided to create images of physically strong, athletic, but sensual women. Photographer Arthur Elgort was inspired by ancient Greek sports.

1991 year

The following calendar showcased women who contributed to history. Frames shot by photographer Clive Arrowsmith in France exude freedom, strength, energy and true feminine appeal.

1992 year

In the 1992 calendar, it was decided to reflect the animals from the Chinese horoscope. The models were selected not only with good external data, but also with excellent flexibility. Photographer Clive Arrowsmith captured them in southern Spain.

1993 year

In 1993, the calendar returned to its roots again - showing beautiful and sensual girls on the beach. Photographer John Claridge has done an excellent job with this task.

1994 year

One of the models of the 1994 calendar was Cindy Crawford. At that time she was already a star. She was filmed by a photographer for whom she became a muse - Herb Ritz. In the photographs, he tried to convey not only the external, but also the internal beauty of the model.

1995 year

A still from the 1995 calendar - the creation of Richard Avedon. Model Nadia Auermann depicts winter on it. Half of her face is covered with ice, but this cold attracts rather than repels.

1996 year

Peter Linberg, a master of portraits and black-and-white photography, worked on the next calendar (by the way, with his submission, the calendar became completely black and white for the first time). He tried to show the woman in her natural beauty.

1997 year

In 1997, the company decided to collect the 20 most beautiful women in the world. One of them was Monica Bellucci. In the lens of Richard Avedon, even without taking curly poses, the actress looks very sensual.

1998 year

Photographer Bruce Weber captured men for the 1998 Pirelli calendar for the first time. In one of the frames, actor Evan McGregor was pensively frozen.

1999 year

Historical periods became the idea of the next calendar. Each model reflected its own. The famous Frenchwoman Laetitia Casta depicted the fifties of the XX century.

year 2000

In 2000, the calendar showed women similar to the heroines of paintings by Rubens and Botticelli. The photographs were taken by photographer Annie Leibovitz.

year 2001

The following year, Gisele Bundchen posed for the calendar, and Mario Testino became the photographer. For the beautiful models - participants in the shooting, a luxurious place was chosen - the interiors and streets of Italy.

2002 year

2002 changed the calendar again - instead of models, young promising actresses adorned it, and they were all dressed. Photographer Peter Lindbergh simply conveyed different facets of the characters of all his heroines. One of them was Brittany Murphy.

2003 year

But a year later, the calendar again chose sultry Italy as a location for filming, and models for its characters. Natalia Vodianova was chosen as one of the stars of the calendar. Her youthful pure beauty was captured by Bruce Weber.

2004 year

The 2004 calendar has become one of the most unusual in the entire history of its existence. Photographer Nick Knight did more than just photographs for him; he worked with illustrator Peter Savville to add mysterious fantasy images to them.

2005 year

Model Naomi Camppell starred again for Pirelli in 2005. The shooting took place in hot Rio de Janeiro, and the photographer was Patrick Demarchelier.

2006 year

The next calendar was filmed by a duo of photographers - Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot. Jennifer Lopez became one of the invited models. The mesh umbrella has become an interesting detail of the picture - its shadow perfectly emphasizes the beauty of the star's body.

2007 year

Sophia Loren was already over 70 when she agreed to star in the Pirelli calendar. But the beauty of the actress and her sensuality are timeless. This was demonstrated by photographers Ines van Lamsweerde and Vinood Matadin.

2008 year

The shooting of the calendar in 2008 for the first time in history was carried out in Asia - in Shanghai. The challenge for photographer Patrick Demarchelier was to portray the sophistication and beauty of Asian women.

The slogan of the next calendar is “Beauty will save the world”. Photographer Peter Bird captured the models in Bostwan along with wild animals - elephants, antelopes, meerkats and others. As you can see, man and nature may well look very harmonious together.

2010 year

The 2010 calendar was created by photographer Terry Richardson. Its main goal was to convey the maximum naturalness of the models and their natural beauty without unnecessary embellishments.

2011

In 2011, Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director of Chanel, was the photographer. He made models of the Olympian gods - omnipotent and sensual. One of the goddesses was the designer's muse - actress Julianne Moore.

Photographer Mario Sorrenti in 2012 again captured the unity of feminine beauty and natural beauty.

year 2013

Last year's calendar again abandoned eroticism and nudity, focusing on the brightness of the streets of Rio de Janeiro and what might be happening there. One of the models was Adriana Lima, she starred for the calendar, being pregnant.
