Video: Imperial hazel grouse - planting and care in the open field

For a successful planting and rapid rooting of the imperial hazel grouse (fritillaria), you should choose the time most favorable for this procedure, plant it correctly and provide further care in the open field.
Reproduction methods
The royal flower can be propagated in two ways: bulbs and seeds. If you choose the seed method, then you should prepare for the fact that this process will take a lot of time, patience and work.
The first sprouts may appear after a few months - not everyone has the patience for this. In addition, some of the seedlings die before the flowering period. Grouse blooms only in the third or fourth year.
The second method of breeding the imperial hazel grouse will allow you to see flowers much earlier. In addition, planting bulbs in open ground is much more convenient, and maintenance is less laborious. Even a novice florist can easily cope with this task.
The plant, together with the bulb, is carefully dug up and all the babies are carefully separated from the largest mother bulb. They are immediately soaked in a light pink solution of potassium permanganate. After twenty minutes, take out and dry. For three weeks, babies, along with the mother's bulb, rest in a dry place with good ventilation.
It is important to monitor the temperature. If the rate is too high, the children will dry out. At the optimum temperature, small roots begin to appear on them, after which they can be planted in a flower bed. As a rule, this happens at the end of summer or at the very beginning of autumn.
When to plant
In a flower garden in the open field, hazel grouse children can be planted in August-September. For planting, prepare a site located in a well-lit place or in a small partial shade. Before planting, the hazel grouse bulbs are once again soaked for half an hour in a weak concentration of potassium permanganate. Then the children are taken out, dried and powdered with charcoal.
Priming
The king flower is not particularly picky about the composition of the soil, however, it is best suited to be light, fertile and moderately moist with good drainage. Loves humus fertilizer and sandy loam soils.
Before disembarking, the site should be prepared. The soil is dug up, bringing in peat or humus, lime or wood ash. In the case of heavy soil, sand is added. Dig up again to evenly distribute the introduced components.
Seat selection
For the initial landing of the "fire bell" choose a place where there will be light partial shade. This is best done outdoors in the garden. In such a place, the imperial hazel grouse will be very comfortable: it will be provided with warmth and protection from the cold wind.
The flower should be provided with proper planting and quality care so that you can admire the lush bloom. On heavy soils, which distinguish summer cottages, high-quality drainage should be provided. Without it, the soil will become waterlogged, and this is destructive for the "royal crown".
When the soil is oversaturated with moisture, hazel grouse may not show the beauty of its lights at all. Do not plant sprouts in areas of stagnation of surface and ground waters.
To make the soil looser and more airy, coarse river sand and humus are added to it, which will also be an excellent plant feed. The optimal amount of humus is 12 kg per 1 sq. meter.
For large bulbs, holes are dug to a depth of about 30 cm, for smaller ones - 15-20 cm, the smallest children are planted in holes up to 10 cm. at least three times.
If the hazel grouse is planted to create a flower bed or a composition, then a distance of 25 cm is left between the holes. Such a gap will allow the plant to develop correctly, and the florist will provide correct and high-quality care for it. The wells are prepared two weeks before planting the sprouts.
Transplant technology
The planting depth of the imperial hazel grouse is approximately the same as when planting other bulbous plants (tulips, lilies, etc.):
- The planting depth is calculated so that there is a layer of soil above the bulb twice its diameter.
- Keep a distance between the nearest bulbs. For small ones, it is about 15 cm, for large ones - up to 30 cm.
- The bottom of the hole is covered with coarse river sand; on heavy soils, a small layer of peat is added there.
- In order not to break the delicate and fragile roots, the bulb is placed on its side during planting, and the roots are carefully straightened. You can't just push it into the ground.
- Fully covered with sand, and from above the entire hole is filled with soil.

Leaving after disembarkation
If the fall is warm and dry, the plant should be watered regularly before the onset of cold weather. The royal flower tolerates cold and even frosty winters quite easily, but it is better to take care of a good wintering of the plant. To do this, you need to prepare mulch.
As a shelter, you cannot use a material that is capable of caking and does not allow air to pass through well. Most suitable for sheltering plants are spruce branches, reeds, straw, tree leaves, and agrofibre. The thickness of the shelter should be approximately 30 cm.
During the period of growth and development, plants need irrigation. If the weather is hot and dry, then watering is done especially often.
Dry watering, that is, loosening the soil, is also very beneficial for young plants. They loosen the soil around the sprouts very carefully, trying not to touch the roots, since by spring they are on the surface.
Each type of plant spends a lot of energy on the production of "offspring", this also applies to the royal flower. The "royal crown" spends all its strength on the reproduction of boxes with precious and healthy seeds.
Fading, the hazel grouse gives up all its nutrients to the formation of the seed capsule. If the plans do not include the collection of seeds for further planting, then after flowering and falling off of all the petals, the ovaries are immediately removed.
This will conserve the plant's resources and help the bulb get much more nutrition. Thanks to this, a healthy and strong bulb will be formed in the hazel grouse, and this, in turn, will become the key to obtaining a powerful plant with beautiful “fire bells”.

Autumn care after transplant
Fritillaria requires full care from the very early spring: it needs top dressing, timely watering, weed removal, and loosening. Closer to autumn, the list of mandatory procedures decreases markedly. When planting imperial hazel grouse in open ground, the following care rules should be observed:
- In order for the plant to be guaranteed to take root and grow, it should be watered abundantly already during planting. This will improve the contact of the bulb with the soil and speed up the rooting process. In addition, moisture helps to activate the biological forces of the plant.
- After abundant watering, you should wait until all the water is completely absorbed. Then the soil is mulched to better retain moisture and protect the bulb from drying out, bad weather and cold temperatures. Mulching can be done with rotted sawdust, humus, peat or compost. The mulching layer should not be too thin or thick. The thickness that is optimal for hazel grouse should be about 10 cm.
- In regions with cold winters, for better wintering, planting imperial hazel grouse in the open field is additionally covered with dry foliage of trees or spruce branches on top of the mulch. With the onset of positive spring thermometer readings, the coating is immediately removed.
It is necessary to dig up all the bulbs of the imperial hazel grouse every year. This happens in early summer, after the flowering period ended, the leaves turned yellow and began to fall off. All bulbs are dug up, sorted, sorted by size and sent to a dry, warm and well-ventilated area.

There the bulbs are stored at a temperature of about 27 ˚C until the onset of autumn, when the planting of the bulbs can begin.
If you follow all the recommendations for planting and caring for this unusually beautiful plant, then the imperial hazel grouse will delight you with its fire bells every year. Caring for the royal flower is quite simple, and its flowering in the open field is truly majestic, worthy of the emperors themselves.
Summarize
- The imperial hazel grouse is best rooted outdoors in the fall.
- Landing is carried out following all the recommendations, choosing the right soil and planting site.
