On the eve of Christmas, a very significant record was set by the Canadian Jean-Guy Laquerre. The 74-year-old pensioner managed to collect the world's largest collection of Santa Claus. To date, the number of different images of Santa Claus in the form of decorative figures, toys, dishes, posters and other items is 25,189 pieces. The collector turned out to be not a greedy person and decided to demonstrate his treasury to everyone.

On December 15, Jean-Guy Laquerre decided to give the public a glimpse of his collection of Santa Clauses. He opened an impromptu exhibition in the basement of his house, in which he exhibited the entire collection. The exhibition will be open to the public until January 15, 2011.

According to Laquerre, he began collecting his collection in 1988 when his wife's aunt gave him an antique papier-mâché Santa Claus figurine. The Canadian record holder said that since then he either buys Santa figurines for himself, or receives them as a gift from friends.

Laquerre's achievement was officially registered and entered into the Guinness Book of Records. Commenting on the decision of the Book Committee to include his collection in the next edition, the Canadian said that he was extremely proud to be a record holder. “It's like winning an Olympic medal,” the pensioner stressed.

The happy collector can only wish a Merry Christmas and also keep his treasures away from eccentric personalities like Lady Gaga.

According to news agencies, during one of her recent performances in London, the singer tried to bite off the head of a Santa Claus toy. “I like Christmas, but for those of you who feel lonely this Christmas, so that everyone is happy …” - with these words, the star made an attempt to decapitate the toy. Having failed, the pop diva did not calm down and pierced the figurine with a stiletto heel, shouting: “I hate the holidays! I am lonely and unhappy!"
