Why can't many successful women in their careers build family happiness? It seems that American scientists have found the answer to this interesting question. It turns out that our success significantly affects the self-esteem of our men. And as a rule, not in the best way.

As specialists from the University of Florida and the University of Virginia have found out, the self-esteem of the stronger sex is quite dependent on the success of their partners. As a rule, men already subconsciously rate themselves lower, while their beloved succeeds in something.

“It is clear that a man can feel hurt if his girlfriend bypasses him in something they do together, such as losing weight. But our research shows that men automatically interpret a partner's success as their own failure, even if they are not directly competing,”one of the researchers quoted the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology as saying.

Scientists suspect that there is a mechanism in the brains of men that automatically interprets the success of a partner as their own fiasco. It is curious that the lonely careerist ladies themselves often say that men are oppressed by the fact of their success, since male pride is hurt.

For example, in two online experiments, representatives of both sexes were asked to recall the moment when their loved one achieved any success in any kind of activity or failed. According to the research results, it turned out that men subconsciously think worse of themselves when faced with the success of a woman, and this effect was even more pronounced for cases when men felt "competitive" - they were asked to think about something in which their wife or girlfriend succeeded. but they are not.
